Hi!

I spoke with my insurance and they say they cover my surgery with a pre authorization and psyc as well but do not cover nutrition?

I'm not sure if I was speaking the correct lingo but has this happened to anyone before?

My scheduler had said to ask them if the require 3 months or 6 months and they said we cover the survey with authorization but not nutrition.

Confused? Help please if you know

It sounds similar to my insurance in a way. My insurance covered my labs, and psych evaluation. It didn't not cover my nutrition class which meant I had to pay for the class which was $45 compared to what my deductible usually Is which was $20. And they didn't require me to do any kind of 3 -6 month supervised diet. But if I were you I would call them and ask them what is required for wls surgery. Because all those requirements need to be met before you submit for authorization. If something is missing from paper work then they will deny u so it's best if u ask the insurance first what's covered and how much of it they are covering before u move forward. Good luck to you

My insurance required a 6-month medically supervised weight loss program before they would approve the surgery. But even though they required this, they refused to pay for the doctor visits.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
