Tamjpjb 1 Posted May 4, 2007 Hi I'm Tami, I just started getting familiar with this site a few days ago. I've been learninig a lot. I am set for surgery Tuesday morning in LA with Dr Liu. I wanted to find out, what is the average time people are taking off work prior to going back. I'm told sometimes within 3 days you can be back, if there are not any compications. Anyone go back to work that quick, or quicker? I have an office job where I can hide in my room all day, not much running around is needed. I'm both very excited as well as nervous! :nervous Tami Banding 5/8/2007
Alexandra 55 Posted May 4, 2007 Tami, I went back to work on Monday after surgery on Wednesday. If I'd had to, I could have gone back even earlier. Have you ever had surgery before? Do you know how you react to anaesthesia? The muscular pain and soreness is very manageable; many people don't need anything more than Tylenol even as early as the next day. For me the big thing was dizziness related to the anaesthesia. I wouldn't have wanted to drive my long commute to work if I could avoid it. But the pain wasn't the problem at all. Tamjpjb 1 Posted May 4, 2007 Thanks for your information. I have had surgery before. I get VERY nauseated! And VERY sleepy. I just want to sleep for about 24 hours-this takes my mind off the nausea, too. I had a TT about 2 years ago, and my pain was not too bad. I didn't take any pain meds for the first 4 days, until I found out they'd help me sleep. I think I have a high tolerance for pain- had 3 kids naturally with NO drugs! I had a lot of pain when I had my tubes tides about 7 years ago. I was walking doubled over, holding my stomach with my arms- but didn't take any drugs. I do commute about 30-60 minutes, depending on my "wonderful" Southern California traffic.
