I have sleep apnea, was diagnosed in March 2014. I had my surgery August 8, 2014 and in total I have lost 34 pounds since starting my pre-op diet ordered by my surgeon. I didn't think I would see results this quickly, but I sleep much better now than when I did before my surgery. Directly after my surgery, I couldn't sleep with the machine on because it made me nauseous and I didn't want to heave.

As far as Protein drinks go- Body Fortress chocolate Peanut Butter is really good, to me. The strawberry was gross. :P

I have anxiety about a lot of things, believe it or not. I'm not sure if it's common- but I know that being nervous is.

I had been a member of the 'nose hose patrol' for 10 long years preOp due to sleep Apnea.

Within 10 months postOp and loss of about 40# I was off CPAP as well as insulin.

As well as my anxiety being considerably lower and my episodes of Panic ceasing totally.

In fact, I learned much of my own overeating was directly related to my 'panic & anxiety' disorder.

Good luck on resolving your issues, you're on the way!!!!

I was never diagnosed with sleep apnea but if it walks like a duck it's a duck. I snored and woke myself up gasping for air. Hubby said he'd lay and watch waiting for me to take a breath. My family commented about my snoring all the time. Since losing wt hubby says I don't snore anymore. I sleep like a baby.

JACK THAT WAS TO FUNNY NOSE , HOSE PATROL, I knew I had sleep apnea because I would wake my own self up snoring, & I was diagnosed after one of my son's woke me up & said I was scaring him , after being banded , one day I was exhausted , and I felt like I had been snoring , so I asked some one sitting in the room & they told me that I didn't so I guess losing the weight helped , because I haven't used my cpap machine since 2 months after , now my Mother is using it .

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
