Feeling discoraged july sleever

Recommended Posts

Hi, reading all those posts I think we are all doing the same. I was sleeved on 7/24 and since surgery I lost 15 lbs. I had a 2 week stall and this morning my scale showed that I gain 3 lbs.. Maybe it's fit to my Constipation because I'm trying to get all my Protein in and not the Fiber. It's very discouraging .

Thank you everyone for your replies. To the lovely ladies who were sleeved around the same time are any of you working out and if so what are you doing and for how long !? Thanks.

I'm trying to walk a little every day. I get tired too easily to do much else right now. I'm hoping that will improve as my weight goes down.

I know it's hard to not be discouraged. Just continue to eat right and exercise as instructed. Things will get better!!

I am almost 7 months out. scale has barely moved in the last two months. But I am going to the gym and exercising. And I can see the differences in my clothes and my body so that's all that matters to me.

You said "Also I am able to eat anything including rice and bread."..

I hope you are not eating rice and bread. These items and any other high carb items have no place in the weight loss phase. A nibble here or there isnt bad, but only if it is a nibble.

I'm struggling with exercise! I'm walking about a mile a day but know I need some strength training too! What have you been doing? I need help in this area as well!

Hello

I was sleeved on July 21st. It's been a journey with some ups and down moments for me as well. I have good days and bad days. But, I don't regret the surgery. It's saved my life. For me, it's understanding that wls is a tool and not the magic answer. I've lost pounds and inches so far. I try not compare myself to others. I look at where I was before the sleeve and where I am now. My clothes fit better and it gets easier to move around. I embrace my triumphs. I have stalls too but I have faith I'm in control of this journey. positive thinking and support will help you through this journey. Most importantly, you have to believe that it does get better. Hang in there. Hugs!

The weight isn't just going to fall off...it'll take time. Rice and bread are bad, stay away from the carbs and focus on a high Protein diet with no snacking. Make sure you work out everyday and mix it up. Also make sure you are taking all of your Vitamins on a regular basis! Best of luck to you!

You are going through "The Dreaded Week 3 Stall". It can last two weeks, or even a little longer. You'll think your doctor goofed, or you're the first bariatric patient that surgery didn't work for. Not true! It's perfectly normal and there's a biological explanation for it. Almost all of us experience this first stall. Once it passes it's clear sailing for a while. Don't be discouraged -- you'll be fine and the weight will start dropping again soon! Spread the word! This stall is really disheartening for a lot of patients. If they know about it in advance, it's not such a hurdle. I wish someone had told me!

Oh yes!!! That 3 week stall! I think we all went through it. It lasted 2 weeks for me then I suddenly dropped 7 lbs. it hit me again at 3 months and again a sudden drop. Don't let it discourage you.

Do not compare yourself to anyone else! Our bodies are all so different and you will lose weight differently than other people.

SOOoo glad to hear this! I felt so good at first and then hit the 3 week stall (that also lasted 3 weeks) that I asked my dr if he maybe just poked holes in me then glued me shut! I, also, wondered if I had been a failure once again or had ruined it for myself already. Now I am ready to get my focus back and start losing again! So many of us have been beaten down emotionally, by ourselves or others, that everything has negative connotations and we tend to think less of ourselves at every turn. Oh, to have back that value of self-worth back that I used to have as a younger, thinner person. Maybe that will be my ultimate goal while I lose the weight and regain my health: to regain a healthy self-esteem.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
