thank you dr. illan

Thanks to Dr Illan for giving me my life back. I am three months out and I am 25 pounds from goal. I have lost over 60 pounds. The doctor, hospital and especially his support staff were wonderful. They still answer any questions I may have with a quick response. The Facebook page of his past patients is inspirational and supportive. I am so happy I made the decision to go with this doctor.

I reached my goal range in 4.5 months and have been maintaining for 5 months.

I was very happy with my experience with Dr. Illan in November 2013. Every $500 -$1000 is important to me and gives me pause, so I was paying special attention to the practices that charged under $5K as I worked to select my surgeon. Everything about my experience exceeded my expectations and (not that I don't enjoy foreign travel) I was never left alone to have to figure out how to get from point A to Point B or to pause to think about the safety of a neighborhood, how much to tip a taxi driver, or where I could go to buy my brand of Shampoo or other forgotten item.

Besides having a normal/healthy BMI now, my blood pressure and cholesterol have been in the normal range for 8 months. I had my children late in life and --with them all being under 13-- this is even more important to me than feeling more attractive & slim.

I received scrupulous care in Mexico and will be supporting another loved one surrounding surgery with Dr. Illan soon.

Best wishes to all sleevers & sleevers to be-- it's a wonderful & effective tool for reclaiming your life and a way to push "re-set" on so many health issues that have plagued the majority of us!

Nice public relations thread.

Is Omar the Magnificent still fronting (in every way) for Dr. Illan?

Y'all are just rude!

haha...you insult ppl and then ask them a question?.......no seriously <head shake>....clearly these are happy patients of Dr. Illan....if you want to continuously bring Omar up...refer to the other thread...As far as I know, everyone is entitled to speak about their Dr's on this forum. Give it a rest already!

Hoping he is. My surgery went extremely well. The hospital was excellent. Thanks to his support staff felt safe and never uncomfortable. Would not hesitate to do it again. Feeling blessed

Hoping the coordinator is still with Dr. Illan. It was great to have every detail handled. No worries traveling in Mexico.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
