Well tomorrow is the big day for me. I just came from my pre op appointment. My doctors number one thing that he wants me to remember is CHEW CHEW CHEW. Lol. I guess no more inhaling my food after tomorrow j/k.

Well, you can still inhale a few bites but it's going to be very painful :P

I went to a support group meeting last night and one of the topics brought up by the nutritionist running the class was this: Don't expect to be perfect all the time. Don't think you'll never eat ice cream or cake ever again. And she was right. We see so many people who think they've failed over one day of bingeing or one meal of over-indulging. No one on this forum is or will ever be perfect and every one who is a few months past surgery has slipped up.

Her point was, it's OK to have a snickers once in a while. Plan on it and enjoy it. Don't make a habit of it but don't beat yourself up if you do eat that sack of chips/dips or you ate the entire slice of cake and not just a few bites.

Sorry, just an intervention in case you have plans on being the very first perfect WLS patient

Thank u! I'm glad that you shared that because the thought of having to be Perfect Patty was stress me, and making me wonder if I truly ready for this. However, when I met with my surgeon today, he eased much of my concerns. Now, what you're saying is pretty much in line with what he told me. :) :)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
