thenerdie 4 Posted August 28, 2014 Hi there I am only 2months post op and just found out I am pregnant. It was not planned and we used protection so it was very unexpected, I am having the baby but I was curious if anyone else experienced having a baby so soon after post op. It's not ideal I understand that but such is life. I am also curious if after the baby is born will I continue to lose? The only thing I'm regretting is I may have "f'd" up my weight loss and the sleeve would have become pointless to even undergo... I can't find much online so I'm reaching out on here. Looking for open minded people not shaming because it happened so soon post op. My surgeon also never told me that there would be a spike in fertility which I later found out through research. Thanks
JamieLogical 8,713 Posted August 28, 2014 Have you talked to your surgeon at all to get his/her thoughts on what steps are best to take for the health of yourself and your child? I would think it would be best to consult with a medical professional in this situation. Best of luck!
JamieLogical 8,713 Posted August 28, 2014 PS: Would you mind sharing what form of protection you were using? My surgery is this coming Monday and I definitely want to avoid this same situation. I'm on the pill, but we've already stocked up on condoms to use as back-up, since I'd read some stuff about the pill not being as effective in the first few months post-op. Momof2inIowa 195 Posted August 28, 2014 From what I learned in my sessions it wasn't that you would mess up the sleeve it was that you would have a hard time taking in enough nutrition for you and your baby...so you will have to REALLY make sure that you are getting in all of the right Vitamins and foods for both you and your little one. I agree with others posting, make sure you reach out to your doctor ASAP to find out what steps you should be taking now to have the best setup. Congratulations by the way!! what an exciting time!! I wish you the best for you and your family!

RedDirtRoads 64 Posted August 28, 2014 Just a suggestion, maybe check with the PCOS forum/ thread? If you have PCOS then having WLS could really increase fertility, they may have someone with this experience. (I stumbled across some PCOS gals here but I couldn't direct you to them, sorry.) Miss Mac 6,262 Posted August 28, 2014 1. I agree with the folks encouraging you to let your doctor know ASAP. 2. Congratulations 3. I am the 3rd of 6 kids. Mother was 44 and severely obese with she got pregnant with my youngest brother Steven. She thought she was going through the change until about the 5th month she was getting belly kicked like crazy. I was 14 when Steven was born, and my younger sisters were 9 and 7. Although Steven was not expected, he was certainly welcome. Even though we are all in our 50's and 60's now, I cannot imagine how my life would have been without him. Keep in mind that Bethovin was the 13th child in his family. 4. Do the best you can to keep you and Little Precious happy and healthy. Congratulations!

RedDirtRoads 64 Posted August 29, 2014 I wasn't assuming that you did, I just thought you might be more likely to find this situation there. It was just an idea . . . I don't have pcos ... UK Cathy 977 Posted August 29, 2014 There is a forum specifically for pregnancy and the sleeve. You will find lots of Answers there I think. I'm using an ipad so don't know how to put a link in.
