I am almost 3 weeks out (19 days) and I just started experiencing some fairly intense pain in the incision they removed the stomach from. Has anyone else experienced this this far out from surgery? I am otherwise pain free.

Also, I started sleeping on my stomach about a week out from surgery. Could this contribute?

I have no suggestions as I have not had my surgery yet, but I hope it feels better soon.

I had a pretty gnarly stabbing like pain around the 2 week mark around the same incision site. My PA suggested that since I was feeling better and more active I may have pulled a muscle, remember they cut through the abdominal wall during surgery. Everything felt better after about a week, and putting light pressure on the area helped me with the shotting/stabbing pain. Good luck!

I had that and it lasted for several weeks . It's your inside healing around the stitches . It eventually stopped.

I sneezed today and it hurt like hell!! I talked to my doctor and he said it was indeed just the healing process, but to keep track of where the pain was and how often, as there is a slight possibility it could be gall bladder, but highly unlikely this soon after surgery.

I'm right there with you :-)

I went back to work yesterday and did really well. Last night just before bed time I started getting abdominal pain, right side (the side of the biggest incision). It got pretty unconfortable, and I got out of bed and moved to my recliner. It got better. But I was also thinking "gall bladder?". But I'm pretty sure it's just the big incision and maybe I over did it a bit yesterday.

It's much better today - still sore, but not like last night.

I guess it's just reminding me it's only been two weeks, eh?

So, I'm now on day 7 of this incision pain. It's gonna a bit less painful in the stabbing sense, but it has a general dull pain to it at all times. I am in my 4th week post surgery now and I am starting to get just a little concerned. Thoughts? Should I call the doctor again?

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
