Ok, some of you may know me by now (former biggest loser winner) and I'm doing EVERYTHING right. Had my surgery 8/15. Lost 6 lbs prior and 7 lbs post. scale has not MOVED in 5 days. It's been 3 weeks since I started my "diet" and have not drank, have not had more than 650 cal since the surgery, am trying to hydrate and have been to the gym 10 days straight power walking for 45-60 min daily. As twitter would say: W. T. F. ?? I am 42 and know that metabolism slows, but I assumed it would come off quickly in the beginning. I did this so I wouldn't HAVE to spend 4 hours in the gym. I'm VERY happy with the feeling of fullness and satisfaction with such little and low fat food. And thrilled that I'm not craving carbs. But why won't the weight drop? Am i in starvation mode? Anyone else experience this? Thanks in advance,

I am preop but have been doing tons of research. The best advice I have heard based on many other people's experience is to stay off the scale!

Wow, cut yourself some slack, you just had major abdominal surgery! My surgery was 8/20 and I haven't even gotten on a scale yet. Don't let a number on a scale dictate your level of success at this point. Your new tiny tummy is swollen, and swelling is retaining Fluid. You're working out a lot, have you let your NUT know how many calories you're expending on exercise?

This surgery works, but you have to let your body heal. This isn't a constant downhill loss, it's stair stepping. You may have a month or more go buy where you don't lose. Don't get frustrated this early in the game, this is a lifetime change.

Thank you. Sometimes I forget. Unfortunately my surgery was done by the BEST in NYC and his nutritionist is barely available. AND she deals w so many patients she has pat answers for everyone. I can actually tell that they are generic. Kinda think she's only in it for the money. I had a great education w the organic NUT on biggest loser so am well versed in knowing eating more sometimes aids in weight loss. As for giving myself a break. The good news is I feel so good and recovered it's hard to believe my tummy is still swollen. Thanks for the reminders guys!

Hi! I was sleeved on Aug 7th I'll be 40 next week, and I'm experiencing the same issue. I started my pre-op diet at 264 the day of surgery I was 251 and two weeks after surgery I was 238. I am not all hungry nor thirsty I'm having in issue getting in all my Protein and Water. But I'm increasing it daily and trying really hard. This week I have lost nothing I'm still at 238. I have faith it's a phase and my body is adjusting to major change and pray that things will pick up and the weight will start to come off soon. Just wanted to let you know there is someone else experiencing the same thing. Hang in there.

as they say, it's a marathon not a sprint. ;)

You're doing great. Everyone loses at different rates, but it can get wonky in the first few weeks while we're healing.

Dont stress over it. Just follow your plan and it will work.

My surgery date was 8/6 and I weighed 266. By 8/17, I was at 251. Since then, aside from a brief one-day drop to 249.5, I've been at 251. 11 days! I'm taking the most logical route at this point which is to assume my scale is broken. (I know all of the actual answers by heart now but it's still so annoying!)

I had a 12 day stall around 3 weeks out. It sucked. I just kept plugging away at the treadmill and eating on program and I unstalled. It was like the heavens opened up and angels sang. It'll pass.

Drink 60+ oz of Water a day. After 3 days or so, you should see a loss. I know it's hard to get water in at this stage but it's the key. Good luck!

I wouldn't worry about it I think your experiencing the dreaded third week stall! I was sleeved July 25 and right around the third week i stopped losing and would go up a pound or two and then it would drop! I too seemed to be doing everything right! Eating like 600 calories, getting my Water in, all my Protein and nothing happened! I ended up actually upping my calories to 700-750 and with in a couple days it started dropping! Someone explained the three week stall on here that made me feel so much better! The first couple weeks your body loses cause of the lack if calories and by the third week your body kinda says whoa!! And holds on to everything, then it adjusts and realizes that the lack in calories is the new norm and starts losing again !! The other person explained it much better but that's my short version! Lol. Good luck just keep doing what your doing and it will work itself off! I'm now 38lbs down since my sleeve!!

Thanks guys. I appreciate hearing this. It's weird bc it's only been two weeks since surgery but three and a half since I started my shakes prior to surgery. Hoping it's the same type of deal. Thanks for the insight!

      Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.
