Hi Everyone.

Hope everyone is doing well !

So I'm about to do my 3rd and last weigh in before my surgeon submits to my insurance. Things are getting "Real", fast. I'm nervous about having complications from surgery. I heard it was normal to feel this way. I'm looking at October for my surgery. Long time to be stressed about it. Anyone have any advice on the fear, it would be appreciated. Maybe part of it is I have lost a friend to Bariatric Surgery. I worry about leakage a lot ! That's what happened to her and her organs shut down. In my mind I know don't control the outcome. I guess I'm just being "Normal" in my fear.

Question on Exercise.

I do my normal 30 to 60 minutes of cardio 3 times a day. Then I do my strength. Usually back, abs, and alternate between arms and legs. I was wondering if I should do more cardio or more strength? I was thinking leaving 30 minutes of cardio and doing more strength since I'm going to lose a lot of muscle mass at first. Does that sound about right?

Thanks Everyone :)

I think it is definitely normal to have one last moment of fear or "freak out" right before surgery...when it goes in for approval and gets "real". I would think this would be even more so the case for you, having lost a friend to complications due to the surgery. I definitely had a moment of fear and doubt about a month before surgery, but I went back to my list that I made several months earlier of all the reasons I wanted the surgery and all of the things I wanted to do after the surgery that I couldn't do at my then present weight. That really helped to remind me that I had tried everything else (more than once) and that I was willing to do the hard work and was doing it for all the right reasons. I think though that last minute doubt and fear are pretty normal. It's a huge life change and a major surgery.

As far as the exercise, You are doing cardio 3x a day?? You rock! Not sure what advice to give about that. I'm training for a marathon, so my running schedule is pretty set out for me. I do know, though, that muscle weighs more than fat, so doing a lot of muscle training you might not see the weight fall off quite like you would with cardio, but at the same time, you will still be losing inches, so it's not to say that you shouldn't do it. :-)

Thanks !! I did mean 3 times a week. I find I like doing weights a lot more. I love going to the gym. I'll have to watch myself to make sure I don't get addicted to the gym.

And you're right. I have to remind myself of why I am doing this. I'm a person who really loves life. I love being here. So many more things in this world I want to do. It scares me to think I may not make it, but I also want to be able to do all the things I want to long term.

Thanks again !!!
