I am 6 weeks post op, lap band imbrication, I was 240 the day of surgery and lost 17 lbs in 2 weeks. Then over the last 4 weeks I have lost 6 more. A total of 23lbs. The biggest misconception for me about weight loss surgery is that I would not be hungry, boy was I wrong!! Lately I have been so hungry I could just EAT!! Like the old way, but I don't :) my weight loss is going slow and steady I guess, but I sometimes wonder if I could have just done this without the surgery since it is SO hard still, I thought it would be a little easier. I am grateful for the weight that I I have lost and very happy that I have not had any complications :) anyone else hungry? Anyone else have lap band imbrication?

Some people experience no hunger or very little hunger with your type of WLS. But some patients are extremely hungry till they get enough fills to help them avoid hunger. Many of us took 1-10 fills to avoid being hungry. Depends on your doctor and how much they add during a fill. What you're experiencing is normal and happens to most all of us. Ask for an early fill if you're very hungry?

All I can say is please hang in there until your fills start. It will make a difference but may take awhile to get to the right level. Good luck!

Hi. I understand what you are going through. I have had one fill of 1cc and then had to return and have .6cc removed because I was having a hard time drinking fluids. Yes I am hungry, but I could never have lost this weight without the band. I have questioned the surgery myself with could I have done this on my own? And the answer is no. The band has helped me eat smaller portions. I do get hungry between meals, but I try not to give in to eating. WLS is not an easy way out like so many people think. I hope to reach the "green zone" soon, but until then, as I have read on this site many times, it is just another diet. Hang in there, you are doing great.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
