I was just sleeved on Wednesday august 27... Monday is Labor Day and I plan on going in on Tuesday to work. I am a teacher and I work with small groups with reading intervention and the children come to me. If I feel like it's too much I will go home ... I don't require a sub....but I hoping it will be fine.

I took a week off. I didn't have pain, but sitting upright was hard. You really don't eat enough calories to use too much of your brain. There is no energy. I wish I had taken two weeks cause I ended up having to take a sick day the next week.

My surgery will be on a Thursday morning, go home Thursday evening, and the surgeon says I can go back to work on Monday. I'm not going to go back that quick because even though I have a desk job, my husband (who is getting sleeved the same day as me) has a much more physical job, so he's taking a week off and I'm staying home with home. I figure that gives us time to adjust to things together.

I felt great after 5 days from the surgery itself. But the exhaustion and getting used to the new eating was a challenge. I recommend two weeks minimum off

The lil bit of calories u will consume ur body will use it to heal. ..I am 7 wks out an still have energy an stamina issues. I would hope ur surgeon would write for at least 2 wks off. It took me a good 4 to 5 wks to still adjust to new lifestyle. My surgeon said if u can just get thru the first month u got it made. He's right. ..hang in there. One of the best things I've done for myself. .:)

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
