Looking for encouragement

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone. My name is Rhonda. I had gastric sleeve surgery last July (2013).over the last 13 months I lost 190 pounds which I am extremely happy with. What's going on now I really need some words of encouragement.i am 43 and last Tuesday underwent a total hysterectomy. I have twin 2 year olds so I was ok wasn't going to try for another. But I am home can not so much right now to tend to the , the house. Etc. that makes me feel bad.i have to stay in bed a good bit, when I get up moving around a little while which I do, I start hurting. So I have to get down. What I am worried about is not being mobile. I am still watching what I eat. But I'm terrified of gaining weight. I am only 5 ft tall so I still for me want to loose another 23 pounds I am 148 now, looking to get to 125. I have been watching every episode of extreme wright loss. I am totally motivated but can not actually to right now.sorry the long post just feeling so emotional. By the way my parents are a tremendous help with the babies and my husband at night so they are well taken care of. It's just the my not being able to do.. That bothers me..

You need to let your body heal from your latest surgery. You will be able to move more soon. I am not sure how far out you are from your surgery but you need to take your time and not overdo it.

Good luck and take care!

I feel your pain, but you really need to just let your body heal at its own pace - don't rush it. You need to take care of you before you are able to take care of the babies, or anyone else. big hugs

Thank you. I am one week from my hysterectomy.i saw my doctor yesterday and he told me take it easy I had major surgery . That's hard to take it easy. I am just a little paranoid about gaining a pound. I worked so hard and went thru so much to get that weight off and don't want any type of relapse. I know it's going to be ok in the end just not feeling it right now.

I have had that surgery. Don't beat yourself up. Get as much bed rest as possible walk when ur up to it. Ur body needs rest to heal. That's major. Ur not going to get out of control with weight. If others are cooking for u put ur food order in. Get ur Protein as much as possible an b careful of the sugar. My nut says no more then 10 grms per serving so u can still have sugar just b careful. Balanced diet. It took me along time to recover from that. U will b emotional. I was 32 when I had mine. Don't worry about weight right now. Focus on healing. Sounds like u have already conquered the weight! ! Congrats an b proud of that. I got to where the numbers on scales started to affect how I judged myself ..pat on my back or I really beat myself up. I am 7 wks post sleeve. .I'm feeling pretty awesome of my accomplishments right now..Hang in there. Get well....:)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
