TashaB88 5 Posted August 27, 2014 I have been having nausea and, vomiting since 2 weeks post op. I had a stricture that kept coming back and had to be dilated 3 times and I'm only 3months post op. I have been in and out of the hospital several, times as well. I was in the hospital 2 weeks ago for over 2 weeks. I was unable to take anything by mouth. They put a picc line in and started me on TPN (IV nutrients). Thy had to pull my picc line a week later cause it went bad. I was eating a clear/full liquid diet. Now I'm vomiting again and this time I'm having sever abdominal pain as well. I'm unable to keep much down and it all hurts even Water. My surgeon has me on several medications but they aren't helping. He suggested I might have to have a revision done. Has anyone had a b anything like this? Or had a revision? Any advise would be greatly appreciated. I'm extremely weak physically and emotionally drained from all this.
Ginger Snaps 1,323 Posted September 2, 2014 @TashaB88 I'm so sorry to hear you're having so many complications... it seems like it hits one unfortunate soul every once in a while and you hit the list. I don't have any advice except to tell you to stay strong, advocate for yourself if you feel like nobody's listening and aggressively work with your doctors to find out what can be done. I hope you find yourself on the road to a healthy recovery soon. Best wishes...
TashaB88 5 Posted September 2, 2014 @@Ginger Snaps I definitely feel like nobody listening right now except my surgeon. I'm currently in the hospital and the doctors other than my surgeon are treating me like I'm making all this up. Its very frustrating. Idk what to do any more
Ginger Snaps 1,323 Posted September 2, 2014 @TashaB88 I had to be readmitted to the hospital for pneumonia 2 days after I was released from the surgery and I understand your frustration with the other doctors. Even though I was only 5 days out from surgery, they basically ignored me when I told them I had to be on a special diet and things like that. I called my surgeon several times asking his opinion on things they did including giving me giant pills to swallow and not having me on the bariatric clear diet instead of just a clear diet (that included fruit juices and Jello with sugar, caffeinated coffee). You have a right to question everything they do and you should definitely stay in close contact with your surgeon. You are you own best hero!
TashaB88 5 Posted September 10, 2014 Well, I have been home from the hospital since Monday evening. I had surgery on Wed Sept. 3. The surgeon went in to do an exploratory lap and to insert a feeding tube to my old stomach because I am severely malnourished right now. So, the surgery was only supposed to be an hour long and that was to explore the abdomen and then insert the feeding tube. The surgery ended up being 3hours long. I had severe scar tissue build up. My liver had so much scar tissue it was attached to my pouch, and I had a lot of scar tissue on/around the pouch itself which was causing all the pain. Also, I had a bowel to the right of my pouch that had twisted and then collapsed in on itself. He had to untwist the bowel and then stitched up so it wouldn't twist or collapse again. Also, I had busted several stitches due to the excessive vomiting I have been having. And lastly, he found a large right ovarian cyst that I will follow up with my OBGYN for. He did insert the feeding tube as well to allow my stomach to heal over the next 6 weeks. My surgeon is pretty sure that the bowel and scar tissue were causing all of the problems that I was having. On the good side of things, I weighed myself last night and I'm officially down 110 lbs since surgery!!! Thank you all for your positive thoughts and prayers. Please continue to keep me in them as I continue to heal.

melissabeauty 10 Posted February 16, 2015 I had a problem with everything I tried to drink. I spent the greater portion of the first 3 months in the hospital. All of the dr's were puzzled and couldn't figure it out. I kept getting ulcers. Then my nutritionist suggested I try cutting out all Water and only drinking milk, so I did and it worked!!!! If you think about it though babies stay hydrated on only milk, so why couldn't I? Anyways I am now 1 yr post op down 98 lbs and have avoided hospitals for 6 months now. I am slowly being able to introduce other liquids but I have found it has to have something I can digest. It may not work for you... But maybe it will. I wish you the best of luck! Things will get better as your body learns what the heck happened and adjusts.
