Dr. Bilof or Dr. Schmidt

Recommended Posts

Dr Schmidt is one of the five surgeons at Advanced Laparoscopic in Paramus. My surgeon, Dr Doug Ewing, is also with AL. I haven't had my surgery yet but the group has an excellent reputation among the doctors in the area and Dr Schmidt is the one my cardiologist and PCP recommend.

I chose Dr Ewing because he recently sleeved 3 of my clients and they loved him. He is very low key and kind. Dr Trivedi is also supposed to be really good.

I have met at least 20 of Dr Schmidt's patients in the past three months and they all have had glowing reviews. I think the whole group and their support people are very good.

I had a bad experience with that group. I forgot who was going to do my surgery. This is about 6 years ago. I went to their seminar. With my insurance I had to go to them for 6 months and then have the surgery. I did everything I was supposed to do and when my 6 months was up, I never heard any more from them. I kept waiting and never heard another word from them. I also have heard other complaints that when you have the lapband there is no post treatment. So I was happy when I went to Dr. Gritsus' office I never had any problems, they always followed through. His staff is very nice. If you have a problem you can speak with him directly.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
