How long were you in the hospital?

Did you have any complications?

I had my surgery on a Wednesday and didn't get out until Saturday. Apparently my duodenum had to be stretched to the max and the surgeon was scared the stitches might work loose so I couldn't drink anything until Friday and wasn't allowed out of the bed until Friday. I have been doing great since though and most people are out really quick. Good luck!

Hi!

I went in on Monday morning and left Wednesday at noon. I had no complications, no pain afterwards and had since had no issues. My surgery was June 30, 2014 and I am on all foods now.

It's tough getting in all the Protein, but other than that I am great!! Back teaching with no issues!

Surgery was Tuesday morning, was released Wednesday afternoon.

I was originally told 2 nights would be mandatory, but was told Wednesday morning that as soon as I could get my ride down to the hospital I could leave.

While I was waiting for my ride I got to take a shower, do some more walking and chat up the nurses.

Surgery Friday, discharged Sunday, no complications except most pain meds don't work on me and dr refused to give me the one pain med that does so I can't say I was at all pain free at the hospital or at home. Jerk Dr. >:{

My husband's sleeve was don't the same day, out on Sunday as well. A week and a half later readmitted for pancreatitis and blood clot (can happen to 1:1000 of bariatric patients) for 5 days. Is been the weeks since that and his pancreas is still messed up. :/

My bypass was 8/11 and they released me 8/13. Re-admitted 8/15 with acute abdominal hemorrhage and went home 8/17. No pain at all but super duper nausea. Good luck to you!

Where did your husband develop the clot? I am also one out of those 1,000 that developed a clot. Mine is in the portal vein. Had RNY on 7/31. Was readmitted a week later and then they found I had a clot. Now I am on daily INR checks and blood thinners. Its expectant that I am on the treatment for 6 months.

Dr said it was between his intestines and kidney, or pancreas. That's all we know. He said it wasn't dangerous and not like the kind that go to the heart, lungs or brain. I don't trust him though so I don't know if that's even correct. I believe every clot has a risk of that happening. But I might be wrong.

He gets his INR checked every two weeks. Taking Coumadin every day, alternating between two dosage amounts. Has to do this for 3 months and then they better do another ct scan. The Coumadin makes him feel blah :( I just want him to feel better. He regrets doing this surgery right now :(.

Our surgeries were on 7/18

I had surgery on the 22nd and was supposed to go home on the 25th, but I developed a fever that wouldn't go away. They thought I had a leak in the bypass and I ended up in the hospital for 8 days. Bummer. But so far things are going well.

In one day, out the next. Minimal pain. A bit of advice...it may be kinda hard to get in and out of bed, so a recliner is perfect!

My doctor was willing to let me go home the next afternoon following surgery but I did not have anyone who would be able to pick me up. So I stayed until he next morning. So I was in two days. It was great and everyone was amazing at the hospital but I'm happy to be home instead.

PS I also agree about a recliner to sleep in it is easier to get in and out of. Even with having a binder on it still hurts.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
