Question - difficulty eating and drinking all of a sudden. 3.5 months out

Recommended Posts

Yesterday and today I have barely been able to stomach eating or drinking anything. Both days I've managed no more than 4-500 calories. Yesterday I forced myself to drink 24oz of Water and today I just couldn't get in water. Still working on my 16oz. Normally I eat 1000 calories and rink anywhere from 72-80 oz of water with out any issues. I am not nauseous or sick in anyway, just can't physically eat or drink without felling OFF, not sure what to do. Planning on calling my management team in the am but just thought I'd throw this question out there.

I have days like that occasionally. Had one today. For no reason that I can pinpoint I just feel like Blech all day. I eat and drink less than a normal day. Those sick days are occasional and becoming fewer. I just chalk it up to the healing that is still continuing inside the body.

Feel Better!

Are you on an acid blocker? Acid can cause all kinds of problems and you might not even know you have it. Most doctors put their patients on one immediately after surgery.

Yup I am on an acid blocker. Feeling a wee bit better today and have at least managed to get in 64oz of Water today (added peppermint leaves to the water and seems to help) and food has gone down better today as well. Only at 700cals today but that is way better than the last two days. Must have just been a spell.

Tkx butterfly high and oregondaisy!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
