Sept. 8th & 9th Gastric Bypass surgery.

Recommended Posts

Hi! My gastric bypass surgery is Sept 8th! Glad to find you all, I'm excited for this journey and glad to be able to keep track with everyone here.

Hello.... I wonder how many of us in total will be having surgery on the 8th. Seems like a lot. I can't wait to hear about everyone's experiences.

KyrieAlaina- are you currently on a liquid diet?

Yes I'm on day 6 of my liquid diet, and I don't know about everyone else, but I'm hungry! It's been hard for me, but I just keep on keeping on!

It's not easy but I don't think I'm really hungry most of the time.... I think I just want what I know I can't have.

I am so happy that I actually like Protein shakes though.

I've been drinking the Atkins shakes, and I really like them too!

I drink pure Protein, total lean and shakeology.

I bought the pure Protein in the cans so that I would have something to grab and go that won't seem gritty after surgery.

I haven't because it seems like the reviews are about 50/50 on taste and I have a lot of Protein Drinks that I already like. I don't want to potentially waste the money.

I am so sorry to hear this.... I read that others have gone through this before and it is always a blow especially so close to the date they gave you. I hope whatever it is, it's fixable and can still be taken care of so you can have surgery this month.

Hang in there girl....

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
