Can someone describe Unjury?

Recommended Posts

Can anyone tell me about the Unjury brand? Specifically, the smell, the thickness, the lumps, could I blend with ice? What can one do with unflavored? Thanks

I don't recall a smell for the choc, vanilla and strawberry. I found the choco and strawberry too sweet for my taste and the vanilla was jus OK. The chicken broth definitely had a Protein like smell to me and it tasty oniony to me. I mixed the unflavored in plain chicken broth. You can mix it into yogurt, applesauce, pudding, oatmeal, etc. but wait for any hit beverage or food to cool a bit before adding it.

They sell a sample package which is a great way to try it. Everyone has different taste buds and sense of smell so it's hard to judge the product based on other people's opinion.

If you like it that would great because it is supposed to be very good quality protien.

To me they ended up being to sweet except the chocolate splendor one. I have sample packs of the vanilla, strawberry, chicken Soup and unflavored that I got in June that I can't handle. So don't like wasting things. I just ordered the starter sample pack and they send you a few packs of their flavors

I have only tried the unflavored and the chicken Soup. They claim that you can mix the unflavored with things like crystal lite, but I've tried twice now to mix it with flavored drinks and found it pretty gross. I tried to mix it with SoBe Lifewater and with Powerade Zero. You are also supposed to be able to mix it into things like soup and yogurt, but I'm not allowed those on my pre-op diet, so I haven't tried it yet.

I tried the chicken soup flavor and, while it tasted good, I found it INCREDIBLY salty. Also, you can't mix it with hot Water, so the best you can do is "warm" chicken soup.

I ordered the unjury sample pack a couple of weeks ago. It came with a couple each of chocolate splendor, vanilla, strawberry sorbet, unflavored, and chicken broth. I LOVED the chocolate splendor, liked the vanilla, and hated the strawberry sorbet. I have tried a lot of Protein shakes over the years, and I found Unjury to be the smoothest I've ever tried. No lumps or grittiness. I just ordered a tub of the chocolate splendor for my 2-week pre-op diet.

I haven't tried the chicken broth yet, but I have read a lot of positive reviews on it.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
