Just had RNY on Aug 18. Can't eat enough Protein and what little I do get doesn't stay in! I can't stay out of the bathroom. I start running within 5 minutes of eating and then keep running every 5-10 minutes. I can't even sleep through the night without getting up to run to the bathroom several times. Anyone else have this problem? How long does it last? Anything I can do?

Hi weightloss4liss... I think you should call your doc as you will become dehydrated very fast line this. The doc can call in a prescription for nausea medicines or others depending on the full extent of your symptoms. .. A small amount of nausea is normal but should not be affecting your sleep and you should still be able to keep some things down .

Call your doctor! I never had nausea except for when I was coming out of anesthesia. Better to be safe than sorry.

I'm doing so much better, thank you! I've been quite hungry today, for the first time since surgery. I eat about 2 ounces of food maybe 5 times a day. But I'm so thankful to be feeling better :-)

Hi weightloss4liss! I had bypass surgery on 8/14 but have been lucky enough not to have any major issues. The hardest challenge I continue to experience is mental cravings. I just keep telling myself I didn't go through the past 11 months to mess up now. This journey will not be easy but hopefully rewarding!

Weightliss4liss so glad you are feeling better! Sometimes you just need a little help getting over a hump ( ie. the meds)

Had my first bought of nausea and vomitting yesterday. Note to self....never eating dry fish again!!! worse thing ever! It got stuck and then could not get relief for over an hour after throwing up a couple of times. Keeping meats moist is an absolute!

Yup weightloss4liss... It is all about learning as we go. I had BBQ'd chicken today but put some dressing on it to help moisten and that went fine

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
