starbucks question

Recommended Posts

I'm meeting someone there tomorrow and I don't know if there's anything I can drink. 5 wks out, allowed solids now. Obviously I don't want sugar drinks but don't know what other options I might have. Any suggestions for this one visit besides Water? Decaf green tea? I don't know what that tastes like. I.miss coffee though....... maybe just a reg decaf coffee?

A lime refresher - has caffeine though, but really yummy. unsweetened awake tea misto, any of the steeped herbal teas.

Check with your doctor. My doctor said no caffeine for minimum 3 months. But why not just get some bottled Water? You have to drink it anyway and no point sliding into bad habits once again (my all time fav was the chai tea latte...now a dream for a LONG time, if ever). But the newer skinnier me that will be coming is worth the sacrifice!

Lime refresher is super yummy but has caffeine - awake tea misto is caffeinated or any of the herbal iced teas. You can order anything sugar free or non sweetened. Good luck

That's why I'm getting Decaf. I don't want caffeine. And I don't want Water. That's all I've been drinking and I want something different this one time.

Erp, is the skinny cinnamon dolce steamer decaf or can I ask for it to be decaf?

Venti Iced Passion Tea for me! Takes a long time to drink, no caffeine and counts towards my Water - AND is super flavorful. Tell them no Syrup (sweetener) or to add a packet of your choice. I bring my own stevia usually, or ask for Equal if i forget.

A " steamer " is just hot steamed milk with your choice of flavoring, , like mint, cinnamon, etc. Really good ! You can choose what kind of milk ( 2%, skim etc) and you get your Calcium in there too. I love them when I want someting with no caffeine, but still hot and yummy.

Many people are sensitive to artificial sweeteners so look out for the "skinny" syrups if you're in that category -- don't want to get set off. I like a Decaf Cappuccino -- the foamed milk is festive and yummy and I feel like I'm getting a real treat. I can really linger over it, too. Pink Dahlia, I'm going to try the steamer -- fun!

I don't blame you for going to Starbucks and not wanting to get Water. You can get water anytime and I'm sure water there will cost as much as a passion tea anyway.

Order Decaf coffee hot or over ice. Add a sugar free flavor like: sf mocha, sf hazelnut, or sf cinnamon dolce. Add a packet of stevia, equal, or sweet n low if you are allowed to add the sweetener.

Thanks everyone! :-)

They have the fake sugar there, right? Or should I bring my own?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
