Sip Sip Sips or Swallows?

Recommended Posts

I was told that we had to take small sips when drinking anything. They kept saying "remember sip, sip, sip". I was wondering how in the world i was going to stay hydrated at work sip sip sipping while I was pouring sweat, needing some serious hydration.

Just a few days out from surgery i picked up a bottle of Water and chugged two or large three swallows. When I realized what i had done I just knew i had made a big mistake. I waited for the pain or at least some extreme discomfort. Nothing happened! No pain. No discomfort.

I have also been able to hold a lot more liquid that I thought I should. Now I can drink a whole Premier Protein drink. I guess my stomach is not swollen and is healing faster that I thought. I just drink until I begin to feel that almost full sensation, wait a little bit and finish.

I have a friend that is over a year post-op and still has to sip everything he drinks. He had surgery at the same surgical group but a different surgeon. He also had several complications including kidney stones and just the other day he was dehydrated, again.

Are all the rest of us July sleevers still sipping?

I was sleeved in June and I no longer have to sip, but I can't chug either. I still miss that a little when I've worked up a sweat.

I can't chug a whole glass of Water in a few seconds like I used to, but I also don't just sip anymore. I can drink a few swallows at a time, wait 5 or 10 seconds, and repeat. May take a few minutes to drink a 16 ounce glass of Water.

I'm only a week out from surgery but it has been a learning curve to just sip. I've just naturally taken my "mouthful" a couple of times and paid for it. Right now I'm taking the first couple of weeks off from work, but I can't imagine staying hydrated and trying to work, this sip, sip, sipping is almost a full time job. Minor inconvienience though, looks like you losing well, good luck to you.

I just drink normally. I can't chug like I used to, but I've been able to take regular drinks of Water since day two. My doctor said it was fine as long as it didn't hurt. No harm to me or the sleeve. I can't imagine sip-sip-sipping all day either! I've got things to do!

I'm just 7 weeks out and I can drink normally now, just take a gulp and stop a bit then continue.

I can finish half a liter of Water in 20 minutes, which I think it's good enough for the moment.

If I could only sip all day, I'd never get all my Water in. About two weeks out, I was able to take regular drinks, but certainly not giant gulps. I've only had one or two incidents where I took a big gulp and it was painful in the center of my chest for a few seconds, and then passed.

I'm 4 months out and at first I definitely could only sip, sip, sip and it drove me nuts. Can't tell you how many times I took a big chug of Water out of habit, caught myself and had to either spit it out or try and swallow little bits at a time. Worst feeling ever after surgery if you take too big of a drink...ugh! It's like there's a rock stuck in your mid chest. It was a really hard habit to break for me. Now I can take pretty big drinks, no gulping, but definitely bigger drinks.< /p>

I was sleeved 7/14/14 and have pretty much been able to take normal swallows since day 2 in the hospital. I don't chug like I used to but when I haven't drank something for a while and the body is craving liquids I can take as many as five mouthfuls at a time without pain. I try not to do that too often, preferring to stay hydrated throughout the day... but this mainly comes in after waiting 30 minutes after a meal and by Golly the waiting is horrible. and nearly impossible. still.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
