Getting Stuck

Recommended Posts

Hi. The last few days everything seems to be getting stuck with the exception of slidders. I haven't had a fill in three months and have had no issues.

Everything I eat I chew at least 25 times. Everything is most. I don't what the problem is. Anybody else have this problem. Ideas, suggestions?

What kind of sliders can you eat and what kind of food can you not eat?

I know I am not suppose to know this yet, but I had surgery just over a week ago and I had a few days of hell, a few days of Popsicles and now I can literally eat anything. But, what I have found is that CARBS literally are the Anti-Christ! Lol if I eat bread, fries, Pasta, etc. I literally have to stop

eating and lie down very still. After this happening now 3 days in a row, I will not willingly eat carbs anymore, unless they are in tiny, tiny quantities!

Does your doctor allow you to eat solid food yet? Be careful you don't damage the sutures holding your band in place?

It says I am suppose to eat soft foods. Mostly I just eat small portions of whatever I want. I go back to the Dr Sept 10th, I'll try to be more careful I sure don't want to mess anything up. I had lapband with plication.

Yogurt is about the only thing staying down and really thin sliced cheese. Email my nurse to see if she has any ideas about what's going on.

Did you get the anti-nauseous prescription? I was miserable until after about 24 hours of that! I used suppositories that worked great and then I felt so much better. I'm sorry that you are going through this, I know it's horrible! Praying for you!

So many things it could be. TOM, stomach bug, stress, sodium, swelling from stuck episode to name a few. Hope you can get in to see your doctor?

@CarmenLeAn Time to go see your doctor. Better safe than sorry.

@@planningband07 I am shocked that your doctor is allowing you any kind of bread or carbs at one week in. It was 6 months til I even attempted bread! I fear that you are going to damage your body by eating those foods, even in tiny quantities. Please be careful. I'm sure you will.

@@CarmenLeAn, I would ask the doctor. I know some days I feel tighter than others but then it goes away. For me I have noticed if I am stressed with something I feel tight as well, but can still eat.

@planningband07 please make sure you are following directions from the doctor. I was able to eat soft foods on week 3. My doctor stated carbs are a big no no. So just please be careful. I have not had bread or tortillas since before surgery.

I always took soft foods to mean no chewing was necessary. sugar free pudding, yogurt, mashed veggies, etc.

This is probably why I was so miserable after eating carbs! Please continue to not eat bread or tortillas, trust me! Lol What killed me was some steak fries with ketchup, it sounded so good and I felt like I was done for. Couldn't move, didn't move... After eating like 4 or 5! Lol After that day, I've been way more careful. I will continue to avoid carbs! My problem I think is that I went through a place who did all my pre-testing and they contract with a doc. I never even met the doc, until the day of surgery and didn't ask any questions... I did have my paperwork which said soft foods and Protein Shakes and yogurt and Jello, but I was so sick of it after eating that before and after, I decided to try a few things that were kinda soft and just went crazy.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
