Is the surgery really going to work for me? I'm finding it easier than i expected

Recommended Posts

I had gastric bypass August 1st. That first week was tough, but as soon as they let me have "pudding consistency" foods my energy level shot up. I am not having any trouble whatsoever eating. Nothing I've eaten makes me nauseated. During that first week of Clear liquids i lost 17 pounds and now I'm averaging about 3 pounds per week... which is fine... I'm still losing. Out of all the people I know that have had the surgery i seem to be the only one who hasn't struggled in some shape/form/fashion with eating/nausea. I know It sounds ludicrous to worry but i had this surgery to gain control of my health and I don't want to fail. It seems to easy compared to everyone elses stories... Has anyone else had this experience?

Yes, I have had the same experience. Came through the surgery just fine and have not had any major issues since. Thought I did a few times but it was just normal stuff. This is all good and bad. It's good because who wants to be sick or have complications, right? But, it's also bad because I feel like I could probably eat anything and not get sick which unfortunately could lead to old bad habits. Very scary. I'm trying really hard to not but there are times when I really think I would like to buy a nice donut and just sink my teeth into it. Funny thing is that I don't actually dream about eating the donut, just sinking my teeth into it and leaving it there, just to feel the donut, and get the sense of sweetness. But not actually eat the thing. lol

Just realized I'm off topic! But, yes, there are a lot of us who have not had complications. The reason why you hear about the complications is because if you have them, you need to reach out to find out what to do about it, which is one of the great things about this list.

how fast are you eating? in between bites/spoons put the cutlery down. at least it help get you into a good habit.

i was revised from sleeve to rny last Friday and find the recovery is easier, however, still difficult to take my meds and my tummy still hurts so have to be careful. I am very tired but that might be because you 'do not' sleep in hospital lol.

I am still on liquids and just want too chew something lol

Isykes6266 I have also had a pretty easy time. Doc sent me home with a Compazine suppository prescription that I have never used. I have been sticking exactly to the diet/ food stages as I did not want any complications that could delay my return to work. I have not tried anything real sugary as I don't even want to find out what dumping syndrome is like. Only thing I had was I am now intolerant to lactose which is not a bad thing. Since I have not had sugar I have really not had any cravings so that is good. Maybe you are just keeping to the rules and, rightly so, doing well!!!

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
