I'm going to Mexico, see you went to Denver, who does your fills? I live in cocoa and would prefer someone in Orlando area, and not have to travel to St Pete. I've seen lists of Dr's, but some are outrageous, $500 for first visit, 200+ after wards. Any info from anyone on fills in CF would be grate, thanks! PB

I was banded Jan. 14 and I live in Spring Hill Fl. Would love to keep in contact with the Central Fl. Bandsters. I am just now feeling somewhat like I did before my band. I sometimes feel like my port site gets hard like a small rock and just a bit of pain. Then other times I feel my site and all I feel is the scare tissue. Anyone else feel this way?

Hi all-

I live in Apopka, just north of Orlando. I was banded on Nov 24, 2008 by Dr. Ortiz at the OCC in TJ. I had my first fill on Jan 19 in St Pete with Kathy Gonzales. At the time I couldn't find anyone closer. Now I don't care if there is anyone closer; she is AMAZING!

Would love to be part of a support group.

sue

Greetings all,

I don't know how to post without responding to someone else's post...

I'm considering booking my surgery through Healthbase for surgery in Costa Rica, SJ at CIMA hospital. I want to purchase insurance for complications as I'm self pay and I found a company that insures out of country surgery's called Bordercross/sevencorners. They only insure facilities that are JCI accredited. Does anyone know anything about any of these places: healthbase, JCI, CIMA, or Costa Rica DR's? It's 8k, for procedure, no hotel stays, just one nite in hospital. I was going to go to Mexico, but it's become to dangerous for me and I'm not a skiddish person. Any insights, comments, etc would be appreicated...thanks, kd

PB and any one else in Central FLA looking for a fill doctor~

I spoke to Dr. Domkowski today and he said that he will do a fill for anyone that was banded out of state and even out of country. His new office is down in Sebastain. It's still a drive, but at least it's not all the way to St. Pete.

His office number is 772-581-8003. He said just call and set up an appointment.

Good luck and I hope this info helps someone...

Thanks for the info on Dr in Sebastian, it's a great help. Were you banded by him? If so, how much did it cost? I called and they wouldn't tell me unless I went to his seminar, and I've already attended two of Fuscos, just wondering if Dr Domkowski was less $$. He was actually referred to me by my gastric guy, Dr Domkowski left Omni and couldn't practice in Brevard, so he went to IR. That's what made me think he was less than Dr Fusco, setting up shop in a new place and all, thought he might be better priced. At the time I didn't inquire about the fills, I will call and inquire though now that you've spoken to him.

My husband doesn't like the idea of me going to Mexico and wants me to go local. As my insurance doesn't cover this, it doesn't matter who I go to.

Thanks again for the info, maybe I'll try and call again for a price......appreicate all your efforts.. PBDove

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
