Recommended Posts

My surgery is scheduled for 8am. I need to arrive at the hospital by 7. im too anxious/nervous to sleep any longer. i keep having very odd dreams about the surgery, like deciding to go out to Breakfast before the surgery or sleeping too late and missing it. I have so many emotions coming up. im happpy and yet i feel alittle sad. maybe thats the am i making the right decision feeling. I know am, i kno all the pain i go through will be worth it even if it doesnt feel like it later today lol. if i can i will check in later today, and let you know how everything went!

Good luck to everyone getting sleeved today, Here's to us!!!

Some of the best advice I was given was "you will likely question why you did this for the first 4 months. Then you will wonder why you didn't do it sooner after 4 months." I am not even 3 months and I wish I had done this sooner!! Hope everything goes great today...and just remember that yes- you do start feeling "normal" again at some point.

Good luck for your surgery. Take it easy and slow after surgery--give your body time to heal but walk as much as you can. When you are cleared to be able to drink--sip, sip, sip. Getting that hydration in is key. Your body needs that Fluid to heal. When you go home, continue to walk as much as possible and sip, sip, sip.

Blessings,

Kathleen

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
