Liquid in band at time of surgery

Recommended Posts

Has anyone else had liquid put in their band and left in at the time of surgery. I found that I had 5 cc at the time of surgery at my first fill. I now have 5.7 cc anyone else?

I didn't have a primed band but I wondered at first if I had because I wasn't hungry for a few weeks following surgery. My hunger just took a while to return but I think that's because I am an inflammation type and I was just swollen from the surgery. There are lots of people who have primed bands -- will make it easier to get to the Green Zone, I imagine, but also you will need to be careful about all those behavior changes like chewing, chewing, chewing and not shoveling in food. I was such a shoveler! Good luck to all -- you are doing great!

Mine doesn't have an liquid in it ... and I've not had my first fill yet. That will happen on 9-9-14. :)

I'm anxiously awaiting my first fill tomorrow. My appetite has been ravenous. I'm ready for the green zone.

My hunger hasn't been bad it has only increased in this last week. Chewing is going relatively well. I should have known there were fluids in my band when eggs stumbled down once (they didn't get stuck but it was very uncomfortable).

I had 2cc in my band when it was placed. It was removed when I had food get stuck. It was replaced on my first fill in June. I'm waiting for my second fill 8-29-14.

I had 4 cc when I left - had it removed 2 days after due to swelling causing me to dry heave constantly. Had 2.5 put in at 3 weeks post op.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
