Dr Quinones for my teen. Good choice?

Recommended Posts

So I've picked Dr Quinones to perform sleeve for my teenager and husband in October. I've heard great things and feel good about my choice but I'd like to know one last time if there is anyone who has had a negative experience. If you have had a great experience please let me know that as well. Thanks!

Wonderful! My 13 year old and husband had it the same day. Everything was great! I think their experience was much better than mine as far as the surgery itself and mine was done in the states at a bariatric center of excellence! Anyway Dr Q is probably the kindest most humble man I've ever met. He loves his patients and only does 3 surgeries a day. He is extremely experienced, had nothing bad that I could find in my research. He works at the E.R on weekends and was Cheif of General Surgery at the Tijuana hospital. The list really goes on and on. Since my daughter and husband I have referred a friend and my dad and step mom. They have all done great! The change in my daughter has been a life changer. She has confidence, friends and is finally able to just live her life completely without all the extra garbage. Being a teenager is hard enough but at least she doesn't have that extreme hardship anymore. She went from about 230 to 150 a size 20 to about a size 8/10. My husband went from 300 to 192. My friend who had hers in June went from 230 to about 150 so far. Anyway I'm biased but I would only recommend Dr Q.< /p>

Just as a side note there is another popular Dr right next to Dr Q who brings people in by the bus loads, he does up to 12 surgeries a day and has had multiple lawsuits against him and some deaths. He only does out patients outside of Mexico because if he did surgery on local patients he would go to jail. Please do your research make sure they don't do more than 5 surgeries a day at the most!!!

I have no input other than to say to look for the thread titled "Learn from my mistake". Same dr name but have no idea if same dr. Might want to check it out and get in contact with OP if you have any additional questions.

Thank you for that information to the both of you!

Ive read that review that said "learn from my mistake". It had to do with an associate the dr no longer works with and a refund situation. I visited the facility last week (i live in san diego) and i even asked about it. Thanks so much for the heads up.!

This looks odd. The person that answered in post #3 is not the OP of this thread.

@@PayItForward -- I thought the same thing, but #3 was responding to #1's question, i.e., "Wonderful" refers to the surgeon who'd already done her kid's and husband's surgeries.

@@slcmommy5 -- That's an interesting opening line. Is it meant to be part-humorous or do your teenager and husband have no say?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
