klovitt0171 9 Posted August 24, 2014 I'm 9 weeks post-op & still tire easily & have low energy. I was considering b-12 injections to see if it would help- thoughts?
jjinWA 511 Posted August 24, 2014 Have your blood work done and include B12 levels. Mine indicated my level was 186! Very very low. PCP prescribed B12 injections... First four weekly and then Monthly for a total of 6 months. Now after a little over 2 months I have over 16,000 steps each day. Made a world of difference. klovitt0171 9 Posted August 24, 2014 My levels were fine at 1 month post op but something has changed because I'm so tired & drained lately. Not sure how often I should be getting blood work done.
Kindle 8,667 Posted August 24, 2014 (edited) Are you taking B12 sublingual? We can't absorb B12 in our intestines very well because the part of the stomach that produces intrinsic factor was removed. We need intrinsic factor in order to absorb oral B12. I was told B12 sublingual or injections...the sublingual are easy and don't require a Rx. But getting bloodwork done could tell you if that's the problem. Your regular doctor/PCP can order the tests. Edited August 24, 2014 by Kindle
klovitt0171 9 Posted August 24, 2014 I have not been taking anything but my chewable multi Vitamin because my one month post op blood work all came back ok. I might try taking it though & see if it helps. Thanks!

LindafromFlorida 1,542 Posted August 27, 2014 I'm 9 weeks post-op & still tire easily & have low energy. I was considering b-12 injections to see if it would help- thoughts? We take the injections religiously for 8 months. I feel no different but feel they cannot hurt. Good luck. Linda
klovitt0171 9 Posted August 27, 2014 I started taking the sublingual tablets & it seems to be helping some- have had more energy this week. Thanks everyone!!
BG- 8 Posted August 28, 2014 My doc recommended and I take B12 sublingual. I'm not really down for non-required injections, so I get all I need through the sublingual tabs. They come in various doses, and B12 is non-toxic, so you can check with your doc or nutritionist to see what they think would be a good dosage for you. klovitt0171 9 Posted August 29, 2014 Thanks everyone for your feedback! It's great to have others to talk to about this stuff! I started on sublingual this week & drinking The Believe Mocha Latte Protein Drinks which have a little caffeine & between those two things I've had more energy this week & felt like a normal person again.
