Walking on the treadmill should be totally fine. I was on a weight lifting restriction for 6 weeks; you should check with your surgeon. I went back to my CrossFit gym at 7 weeks (because of traveling!) and started very, very slowly. Good luck.

Treadmill is just walking. You can walk now -- go for it.

But, of course, ask your med team about weight lifting -- remember the 10 pound warning when you were first released from hospital? (Not sure how long that lasts.)

I was jogging (very slowly) at about 3 weeks and back to full cardio workouts at 5 weeks. Walking now is a great way to feel better and you can build on it as you become more comfortable. I really hate walking, but the first few weeks after surgery it was really nice to be able to just get out and move instead of being stuck in the house. When I started to jog I felt a little twinge in my biggest incision, so when that stopped annoying me is when I moved onto running again. My doctor told me to do whatever I want as long as it didn't hurt after 5 weeks and to scale my workouts after that until there no form of pain.

Good luck in your weight loss! :)

I'd ask your physical therapist or surgeon. each program seems to be slightly different, but I see a lot of people starting to do more strenuous exercises at the 4-6 week mark.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
