Good luck!! I had my sleeve done this past Thursday and I feel really good. The gas has been the worse part. And it's not terrible. Be sure to get up and take small walks. I actually feel so good I'm going to go to work for a few hours tomorrow. :-).

Best wishes! Walking was a breeze for me with my morphine drip. I missed it when I got home but walking truly helps with a lot of what ails us shortly after surgery.

Best of luck to you for a pain free recovery. I was sleeved July 31st and am back at the same hospital today for my wife's VSG surgery.

I had absolutely zero pain or nausea and have dropped 28 lbs in 25 days. Wishing the same for you!

Surgery went just fine. Was in the hospital for two nights. Came home this morning.

Experienced some nausea the day after surgery. I'm on full liquids right now and am glad to be eating Greek yogurt or sugar free pudding.

Pain hasn't been too bad. They had me on Dilaudid. I had my last dose yesterday and haven't needed anything for pain since. The worst pain I'm having right now is in the form of a headache.

I still have some gas blocked in my abdomen from surgery, and I wish it would just get out.

I've also started crushing and taking meds. Most are tolerable, except for Metformin. THERE IS NO WAY I am trying this again crushed. It was so nasty!!!!

What experiences have you all had with trying to take your Metformin after surgery.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
