How many calories are you taking in? I have only gone over 600 calories one time and I feel like I'm not getting enough. I was sleeved 7/1 and have been dizzy and light-headed recently.

So why are you limiting your calories to such a low level? You are what, 7 weeks out, so you should be at least on soft foods. Just eat balance meals...protein first, plus veggies and healthy carbs, plenty of Water and get in your Vitamins. If you are dizzy and lightheaded you are starving your body or at least depriving your body of something it needs.

Oh, and I've never counted calories. I just eat when I'm hungry, make good choices and always get in plenty of Protein and Water.< /p>

I went through spells of this and it was due to dehydration vs. not enough calories. At only 7 weeks out, your calorie count is within a typical range so try focusing on your Water as well. I was at around 600 cals at that stage. Good luck.

My surgeon started me out on 800 calories/day & at 3 months kicked it up to 1000 calories/day. I typically get between 800 - 1000 per day & every once in a while I get about 1100 calories. My biggest problem is with carbs. I have to keep it under 50 grams per day or the weight stalls. Everyone is different & so are the doctors orders. Good luck with your journey.

I was told not to worry about calories, as well. It's hard to ignore though!

But this is how my dietician explained it--If Protein is normally about 7 grams per ounce and you eat the minimum of 65 grams, that's around 500 calories. Once you add on incidentals, you are still very low. So eat your Protein and go from there.

I know that doesn't make sense, because I can't remember it, really! you can't count grams per ounce. But whatever it was, she emphasized, once again, that the full amount of protein per day is a minimal amount of calories.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
