Vsglady 142 Posted November 1, 2014 @@mjmboston I'm just I'm just 11 days out from surgery but I found a couple of things very helpful...a back scratcher! The pain meds made me very itching. A grabber contraption, it was difficult to bend over and pick something up. A sobukawa, not sure of spelling I think it's also called a buckwheat pillow, i use it nest to my belly. Unjury unflavored Protein. Chewy bite Calcium from Bariatric Advantage in all the flavors, I take 2 with each meal so an assortment is wonderful. Lots of tissues and toilet paper stored with in reach. Lip balm. And if you have or are thinking about it...a recliner and or and adjustable bed have been wonderful. Hope this suggestions are somewhat helpful. Great surgery date! It's my wedding anniversary. Also I found crystal light and chicken broth wonderful.
chellede 352 Posted November 1, 2014 @@elturner - Are you taking your Vitamins yet? @@pra59 - Congrats on getting sleeved !!! How are you doing? @@mjmboston - Congrats on being scheduled ! Bring Chapstick, walk, walk walk, and when you don't want to, walk some more ! That helps with the gas and makes healing better and get better circulation. Buy different single servings of Protein drinks, and find what you like. Also realize that your taste may change. So what may taste wonderful after being sleeved, might not taste wonderful a week later. And did I mention walking? That's the best !! You'll be tired, you won't want to.. but just do it !!! And realize no matter what, you're recovering, you're going to have some aches and pains, but the sooner you get off the pain meds, and get to walking, the better ! This is just my opinion. congrats again !
chellede 352 Posted November 1, 2014 Congrats to our October 1st Sleevers for your Month Surgiversary !!!!! WTG !!! Make sure you take your measurements and your before and after pictures !!!!! Every month. Because when you stall, you'll have your pics to show you are still losing !!! HUGS Everyone !!!!! oooh and I had my first Deviled Egg last night. It was sooooooo yummy ! I had 2 halves. It was great
10 28 2014 45 Posted November 1, 2014 Anyone having frequent runs to the potty? I'm on day 4 post-op & my tummy is not happy ????
chellede 352 Posted November 1, 2014 @ is it right after you eat? Have you asked your DR about that? I don't remember a lot of people having that.. but you might want to ask in the post op board ! I'm sure there's many many people who have had that happen Congrats on your new tummy !!
10 28 2014 45 Posted November 1, 2014 Thank you! Not really "eating" yet per say and am trying to put unflavored Protein Powder in my drinks. I guess you could say I'm constantly eating lol
SimplySue 131 Posted November 2, 2014 Nice pic @@chellede - festive & matches your food???? Went to a Mennonite market today & got some extracts- pathetic, but I am looking forward to adding some root beer extract to my next vanilla Protein shake.
Kathy812 794 Posted November 2, 2014 @@mjmboston, I took my measurements the morning of surgery, that way when I hit the dreaded stall, I can hopefully see a measurable loss. I agree about the lip balm. A lot of people have gas pain after surgery, I was fortunate, I didn't have any, so I didn't use gas-x but it may not hurt to have them because it sounds like I was in the minority. Lastly, Be sure to have sugar free Popsicles at home, when it's hard to drink your fluids, the Popsicles can be a lifesaver. Good luck
SimplySue 131 Posted November 2, 2014 (edited) @@mjmboston -agree about lip balm. Also, bring mouth wash or breath strips, cause your breath post op is yucky & only had the sponge swabs with Water initially. Slip on sandals were nice to walk in the day after ( they will give you the tread socks) I also brought my own toothpaste & toothbrush. & agree about the walking. sugar free Jello is good once home. & the pharmacy has a trial/sample pack for ~$20. of the Unjury.< /p> Edited November 2, 2014 by SimplySue
chellede 352 Posted November 2, 2014 @ you're still pretty early out ! Check with your doctor, but your body just went through a lot with major surgery and anesthesia. I'm sure it's all out of whack !!
chellede 352 Posted November 2, 2014 So I have some big news ! Since I'm walking 3 - 4 miles at a time, I signed up for a half marathon - 13.1 miles in February !! So I do have to train.. but I know i can do this ! I'm so damn excited. I got it ! I want my 13.1 sticker !!
SimplySue 131 Posted November 2, 2014 @ , I think anything goes initially, I was told that abnormal is the new normal in terms of the bathroom. Could also be due to antibiotics or if you got your gallbladder taken out too. Possibly if your sensitive to the type of Protein powder or what your mixing it with?
