@@downsizingdebs, does you doc know you take 100 g of Protein a day? I was told not to exceed 80 because too much protein can have an effect on your kidneys.

Yep I don't go over much but always hit 100 grams my doc pushes a high Protein low carb ketogenic diet. I'm just under 6ft with a large muscular frame, so maybe the higher protein is okay for that reason, I'd imagine when I start doing more weight training I'd need a little more than that even. I don't think there's a problem unless you are taking in more protein than the body can handle.

My husband was on a very high Protein, low carb diet while trying to "bulk up". He would eat upwards of 250 grams a day. While he didn't speak with a dr about this, he did talk to a nutritionalist who said this was ok. I think the amount of Protein the body can handle/ingest at one is a controversial subject because there are so many different answers.

Deb, how do you get so much protein?! I struggle to get in my 65-75 grams!

@@downsizingdebs, I'm only 5'1 so maybe that's why they told me no more than 80g.

Insure nutrition sends me 72 Premier Protein shakes a month for free, I drink 2 a day at 30 grams each, the other 40 grams plus are from lean meats, fish, greek yogurt etc. Did anyone else get approved for the shakes, Vitamins and scar cream, mine was covered $0 and will stay $0 a month even when the new year starts. That definately helps you get your Protein in and free is great too.

My surgeon wouldn't sign the script =(. I'm glad that yours would and the program is working out for you!

I do drink premier though, but I only have one a day. I can barely choke it down lol. Upon Lovely's suggestion, I bought some Isopure. I can't wait to try it!

I've never had to crush pills. I took halves until 6 weeks out and then was able to take whole ones. That's crappy that you're still having to crush them =(

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
