Recommended Posts

I am a meat lover in general. I always have cooked turkey bacon to grab to go for Breakfast or to have as a snack. My fiancé cooks most of the meals and he makes things for me to freeze and be able to eat especially cuz he travels a lot. He makes me homemade meatballs that are amazing. Shepard pie, I eat tuna on a half thin everything bagel with cheddar and lettuce and cucs so delicious. I eat over medium eggs a lot for breakfast with some cheddar on top. I eat a lot of rotisserie chicken then make chicken salad with mayo cumin pecans and apples so yummy!!

I'm lazy, so I stick with easy stuff. One of my favorite dinners is Fisherman's eggs (I cut down the quantities a lot!):

http://thingsmybellylikes.com/2013/03/25/fishermans-eggs/

For Breakfast, I like to make sirloin lettuce wraps. I use the pre-cooked sirloin roast from Trader Joe's. Take about 2 ounces, cut into tiny pieces, heat in the microwave for about 30 seconds. Place on a big romaine leaf, add mustard (I like garlic mustard, chipotle mustard, honey mustard) and sugar free pickle relish. Wrap it up. Yum!

I like a variation on huevos rancheros -- about 1/3 c. refried Beans with salsa and melted cheese, topped with a poached egg.

I make a lot of sauteed shrimp and scallops. Very quick and easy.

For veggies, I generally rely on frozen. I live alone, and I just can't get through fresh veggies before they go bad. Trader Joe's has lots of great frozen veggies that are not covered in butter or sauce. My favorites are their grilled asparagus spears, brussels sprouts, broccoli florets, and artichoke hearts. I can keep the bag in the freezer and just portion out the amount I need. The brussels sprouts and broccoli I usually roast from frozen in the oven, and the asparagus and artichoke hearts work well in the microwave.

Lately I been cooking a lot of stewed chicken, pork or steak meat....... When stewing it, it allows the meat to become really soft... I put it with lentils or some kind of beans.... I also do curry chicken or curry pork with pigeon peas....... Never used curry before but I love it, it gives a lot of flavor.......... Good luck..... And got the ones that say that can't imagine eating again... Trust me u will........ I'm 9 months out and can eat anything...... And lately I have been craving chocolate ....... Trying my best to get past those cravings..... YES I do give in at times......... My NUT said allow yourself sweets once in awhile.... You don't want to feel like ur on a diet....... I'm at goal down 108lbs

tonight i made the Key West chicken that i found over on the food board and that is marinating right now. going to have that with a broccoli salad and some fresh tomatoes-nothing like a fresh Michigan Tomato in the summer!

tomorrow i am going to make grilled shrimp and a really good cold lentil salad with tomato, red onion, cukes, red bell pepper, garlic, lemon juice, evoo that i found online. YUM!

later in the week i have a new recipe from the current issue of Oxygen magazine that is a chili spiced chicken breast with a corn/onion/avocado relish and some cole slaw. another YUM!

can't wait to try other new things, please keep the ideas coming!

I'm about to be 8 weeks out and I find that veggetable go down easier with my pouch. So most of my dishes is very simple, Protein and veggies.

Only for Breakfast or lunch that I'd add some rice or japanese rice noodle (Somen). My favourite dish would be Somen summer salad with sesami dressing which I make for lunch only, I also add mango in the salad, so yummy!!

For dinner is more simple, like roasted chicken with salad. And of course, the size of the portion is as big as the size of my phone hehe

I purchased the Buffalo Chicken Cold cuts from the deli counter at the grocery story. The roll-up is really easy. I just take two slices of the deli chicken and roll it around the cheese & avocado slice. I heat it on the stovetop, so that the cheese melts.

I am 7 weeks out....only been eating whole foods for 3 weeks. The first 2 were awkward and simple. Third week out I am experimenting a little....a little....more. My favorite lunch right now is imitation crab mixed with less than a tbsp. of lite mayo and chipoltle mustard....just a little. I eat it on Special K Cracker Crisps....about 5 of them. It feels like I am eating something BAD. But its 6 grams of Protein, 125 cals. I am still struggling with getting in all my Water and veggies. But I am getting there. Last night I went putt putting with my son at a local icecream shop and had 2 bites of Cappuccino latte gelato and it was heaven. I refuse to have a list of "never" foods. I have dieted my entire life and I have gained it back over and over again because of the "never" foods. Deprivation is not a good thing. This surgery is a tool and I intend to use it as so. My tiny tummy allowed me to have a couple bites of gelato and stop! That's its purpose! So excited to be able to feel free to enjoy food! (another favorite....homemade turkey meatballs with a piece of cheese all melty in the middle...my son loves them too!)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
