Almost 1 year out and need advice for more weight loss

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

I am almost 1 year out from my surgery date (I have lost 121 total pre-op and post op). I am going on vacation in 58 days (but who's counting) and I would like to lose another 15 pounds in that time. I don't think I can do it because I am losing much slower now. I do exercise 3-6 times a week (pretty intense workouts). I am wondering if anyone has any tips or suggestions to help me get try to get to my goal before vacation. It's not my final goal I just want to be under 200 by the time I go on vacation. I thought I would be at my true goal now which is about another 55 pounds from where I am now. So I still have weight to lose, just very slow. Any thoughts? :) Thanks!

the 5:2 plan seems to work well for sleevers.

What is this??

I was just gonna say the same--5:2 or some modified version.

Basically it's intermittent fasting. Five days normal eating and then two of a modified fast. When you have the fast days you want to eat as early as possible for the last meal the day before and then as late as possible for the first meal on the fast day. Keep your eating window as short as possible on the fast day.

Going back to basics works well too. Try going back to Protein shakes for a day or two a week.

I'm in the same situation. It's been a year and I'm now 15 lbs from gal (was 9 lbs a few months ago but I gained some weight). The first 100 lbs was easy peasy compared to the last 15.

Good luck to u and have fun on vacation!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
