Obstructive Sleep Apnea and CPAP machine

Recommended Posts

I was dx with this early this year and I have probably had it for a few years now. I started using the CPAP in February-ish and not long after my surgery I feel I no longer need it.

I can sleep without the mask and I do not snore and have no issues and I have a very sound sleep and do not feel tired when I wake in the morning.

I am having a very rough way to go post surgery but this has been a positive aspect of the RNY.

Hi Pik,

I had to do another sleep study to make sure I didn't need the cpap even though I was positive that I didn't.

I was right and the cpap machine is history for a few months now.

It's a real positive aspect to having surgery.

I wish you felt better from surgery. So sorry you're still having troubles.

Feel good and I wish you an easier journey.

Thank you. You know, I am not going to have another sleep study. I have already had 2 and with three hospital admissions equaling 10 days and so many tests, I can't afford to add any more.....

I wish things would look up to.. =/

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
