Hello,

Just wondering how many of you there are out there. It seems like most problems like slippage and erosion occur within the first 2 years. What are your secrets to success?

I don't know who has been banded longest here, but I do know of a couple of bandsters off the boards who have been banded for about 10 years (I am an Aussie, and we have been banding since the late 80's, early 90's)

Both have had a few minor issues, but are happy with their bands still.

I believe the US just approved the Lapband in June 2001. Other countries were approved long before, so it's nice to chat with others outside the US and know that someone has been banded for 10 years. That's awesome!!!!

LOL, Yeah, I know that the US only started banding in '01. That's why I added the Aussie part. People tend to call you a liar if you make a statement like that, and not qualify it with "I'm in Australia, and the people I know are Aussies". Everyone just assumes you are American.

Hey Chickie,

Have you ran a marathon yet?

I walked the Columbus, Ohio marathon in October 6006. I finished all 26.2 miles in 7 hours, 16 minutes, and 48 seconds. Yeah, I know, kinda long, but I made it, and that was my goal. And I did it at my highest weight.

I'd like to do another someday after I lose the weight and compare time.

It was a great time. I trained for 5 months with the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society's Team in Training program. It was a lot of work, and it takes some time out of your life to devote to the training, but it felt so good.

Lynette;)

No marathon's yet. I do plan on running at least one or two in the coming years. My goal is to do a Tri before I turn 30.

But this year, I only have a couple of smaller runs happening. Mostly because I have had so much time off running due to my TT back in August.

You still have 4 years, but you're braver than me. I don't think I could do a tri. I don't swim too often, probably because of the weight. Maybe that will change.

Good luck on your runs.

Lynette:)

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.
