I started blended diet yesterday. Day two was harder but not as hard as I thought it would be. Already concerned about variety. My dr wants blended food not shakes. Anyone have suggestions?

I had my pre-op apt today. I am not required to be on a liquid diet prior to surgery, except for a bowel prep the day before. I am surprised, as I thought everyone had to do that. Yay.

How are things progressing for everyone else?

I had my second appt with the surgeon today. No pre op diet required. My surgeon has pioneered a mini open RNY gastric surgery that does not require shrinking the liver. He has performed over four thousand over the years. Post surgery he only requires two days of liquid diet then 8 weeks of puréed food. Then start adding solid food one at a time. I am scheduled for October 8. I still have to get endoscopy, medical clearance, see the nut one last time, attend the bariatric class at the hospital, pulmonary function test and cardiac clearance. So much to do and so little time, I hope I can get it all done in time. See the surgeon one last time on October 3. It is starting to become real and I am getting excited! I am not telling anyone at work, including my manager, but it is getting harder given the amount of time I will need to take off to get all the pre op tests completed.

I had my pre-op appointment today. I have to do a pre-op diet consisting of 2 shakes, at least 64 oz of liquids, and 1 meal (protein & veggies-no carbs) until day before when it switches to Clear Liquids. I also have to do a bowel prep with mag citrate the day before.

October 1st will get here before I know it. I can't wait to tell my boss how soon my surgery date is. She knew I was waiting on a date, but we had 2 people quit and work is getting hectic, plus I just came back mid August from 6 week medical leave due to bladder surgery.

I can't wait to read about everyone's progress throughout our journeys :)

October here too, the second. From forms being submitted for aprroval and to schedule surgery date was 4 days, I have fast approval insurance. My surgeon was booked all of Spetember plus my son's 4th birthday was coming so I didn't want to be gorked out on pain meds for his day.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
