alicat3924 0 Posted May 2, 2007 I am not sure why this is ...but ever since my lap band surgery I am SOOOOOO tired. I exercise twice a day and try to keep moving but I am tired all of the time, and I am not sure why. This is only been happening since I had my surgery 6 months ago. Has this happened to anyone else or am I just abnormal LOL. I was thinking about taking something to give me a boost of energy, I am eating enough Protein , but it's not doing the trick. Are there any SAFE over the counter things I can take to boost my energy level?
angelnurse 1 Posted May 2, 2007 ? Have you had any blood work done? Are you anemic? What does your Doctor say?
alicat3924 0 Posted May 2, 2007 well that's kind of my problem, I had to switch ins companies and my ins doesn't kick in for a few more weeks so i am not able to go until then, which is why i am hoping i can take something over the counter until then. angelnurse 1 Posted May 2, 2007 How many grams of Protein are you getting per day? How much sleep? How much Water? I'm a Nurse, that's why I'm asking all these questions.
Surby 1 Posted May 3, 2007 My trainer has told me that with my diet and all the exercise, if I'm not getting AT LEAST 8 hours of sleep every night that my body is not going to re-build itself. She said it was a HUGE mistake to not get enough sleep right now!! It's probably your body saying, "REST PLEASE!!"
alicat3924 0 Posted May 3, 2007 I am getting plenty of rest like 8-9 hours a night and about 55+ grams of protein...can it be something else? Maybe not enough Water? ??
louise162 0 Posted May 3, 2007 I'm almost certain it's down to anemia. Try and take an Iron supplement. I've just started taking something called Spatone. I'm not sure if there is something similar in the US but ask a pharmacist; they should know!
niki 1 Posted May 3, 2007 Your body is definitely trying to tell you something. Maybe you're pushing yourself too hard - why not cut exercise for once a day? If you're sleeping enough, maybe there are some nutrients missing from your daily diet, you should have it checked out with some nutritionist. What about Vitamins? Most docs usually recommend it. Betsyjane 2 Posted May 3, 2007 Are you taking a multi Vitamin? sublingual B-12 helps me. Diet Cokes used to help....Sigh.
angelnurse 1 Posted May 4, 2007 My Dietician wants me to get a minimum of 80 grams of Protein per day. There is a quick equation to figure out daily protein requirements: weight divided by 2.2=grams of protein per day. Also bare minimum requirement for basal metabolic functions you need 48 oz. of Water per day. You should try to get @ least 64 ounces a day. I feel better when I get more. Hope this helps! Betsyjane 2 Posted May 4, 2007 I found a nice Protein powder---not a shake---just a colorless tasteless powder, that I can add to salads, sprinkle on anything, and add to my protein intake considerably. I got it at GNC, called Any whey.< /p>
alicat3924 0 Posted May 7, 2007 Thanks for the advise, I am going to have to try the any whey and up my Fluid intake. I take a Vitamin everyday so I hope a combo of the protein/water will help.
ouachita 0 Posted May 7, 2007 ...I exercise twice a day and try to keep moving but I am tired all of the time, and I am not sure why. ... How many days a week are you exercising? I normally exercise twice a day and if I don't take a couple of days a week off I start to drag big time. I ususally either take the weekend off or do a 3 day on 1 day off / 2 day on 1 day off routine, depending on my schedule and/or how I feel. I think most experts recommend a 3 day a week workout schedule to give your body time to recuperate and consolidate between workouts.
GayleTX 1 Posted May 7, 2007 The first move I would take it double the Protein intake. And take a good quality Multi-Vitamin (not Flintstone, something for grown ups). Hope you can get some blood work done soon!!
