You are just two weeks out from MAJOR surgery. You wouldn't feel like playing basketball 2 weeks after a hip replacement, either. Be patient, relax, give yourself time to heal. This is such a short period of downtime that will turn into a lifetime of feeling better. I had my surgery just before Christmas, but I still went to a birthday party, a bridal shower, and 2 holiday parties while on my preop diet....just sipped Water and drank my Protein Shake. Didn't eat a thing. I did skip Christmas dinner and a New Year's Eve party because I was wiped from travel and work. But it was my choice and the couch was calling my name :). If you have the energy go ahead to the cookouts.... Make socializing about socializing, not about eating.

I'm still pre-op but from what I understand from many others out there this feeling is very common. Your only 2 weeks out which is still fairly early in the game, it's going to take a little while to get the hang of everything and feel "Normal" again.

Also most woman are more emotional after surgery because hormones are stored in your fat cells, so you losing weight those are going to released as well.

I am 3 1/2 months post-op. At 2 weeks after surgery, I didn't feel like doing much either. You just had major surgery. We have had a very busy summer and I have enjoyed every minute of it. Now it isn't about the food for me. I love going to BBQ's and actually socializing with people instead of having the food be my main interest. Same with going to restaurants. I love to go out to a restaurant with my husband and/or friends for the atmosphere and I actually enjoy the socializing part more than the food. I eat what I can from my plate and always bring home for extra meals. You will start enjoying so many things that you didn't before. Just give it a little time. Take your time to really recover and then start enjoying your life. I am loving it and am so happy now! Good luck!

You are experiencing a very normal reaction. I think it's helpful to focus on your reasons for doing it,look forward to positive outcomes, visualize success and generally give yourself pep talks.

I was miserable first few weeks and felt not myself for more like first 3 months but somehow I just gritted teeth and did what I was supposed to do. Then I lost alot of weight and was so glad I took the leap of faith to do the sleeve surgery.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
