Vitamins?? What do you take??

Recommended Posts

Fiance pointed out last night, the flintstone chewable I have says "Children and adults, take 1 per day", so it says 1 is enough for an adult a day. My doc told me 2, so I'm taking 2 until I talk to him again.

Vitamins are not typically well absorbed. Each drug company has their own technique for selling their crap, the reality is the most Vitamin supplements aren't well absorbed regardless of their claims.

Two children's Vitamins is better. Better even... one twice daily.

I've been wondering ... is there anybody taking prenatal Vitamins? :Banane43: They're super cheap under my health insurance at least, and they've obviously got a full range of vitamins. But I only hear about people taking chewable or liquid vitamins. I'm confused because I can swallow pills just fine -- I was discharged with a Vicodin Rx for post-op pain! It seems to me that I ought to just spend the $2.50 for my INS co-pay on Rx-quality prenatals, rather than the $8 on Flintstones... Any thoughts?

A lot of people swear that Biotin really helps with the Hair loss, so I started taking it. I am not losing any hair, but I am not losing any weight either.

I have never been big on Vitamins or chewables at all. But I found the new Spiderman gummies and they are like soft gum drops and quite tasty! Now I have a choice of the Princess gummies or Spidey. I got both at Target.

Zannie- I had been told prenatal Vitamins would be a good option. I was given liquid Lortab Rx for pain. I was told no pills for 2 weeks. I started back on Prilosec and BCP last Monday, but the vitamins I had pre-op I would still be afraid to take one of those horsepills! But the vicodin pills are pretty big aren't they?

My doctor said to make sure to get Iron, and I saw they've said iron can be poisonous for children, so a lot of the children's vitamins took out iron. I went with Flintstones because I found one that said "WITH IRON!" and I ate them as a kid, so I am use to the taste. I was going to get gummies, but none had iron.

I take Liquid Health daily multiple and their liquid Calcium. Both taste great. I buy them at Henry's in Southern California, but they have a website too.

i take the nutrilite brand double X Vitamins. they are huge horse pills so i have to cut them in half or quarters, i think after these are gone i'm going to start taking the same brand in the chewables. since the cutting is a pain and i hardly take them because of that.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
