Anyone want to be fat again?

Recommended Posts

There was another thread about the skin yesterday, someone had seen in a support group a guy who was using a combo of prep H, and something else, wrapping in plastic wrap, sleeping in the plastic wrap overnight, and had amazing results, but I cant remember what the other product was, maybe someone else read the thread? . It is a temporary fix, I beleive.

Does anyone wish they were still fat from a vanity point of view? I know I'm healthier and I'm only halfway but I'm already noticing the empty hanging skin, when I was bigger it was filled out and plump! iv less confidence now and trying to hide it in clothes is a nightmare excerise only does so much, I know u can fix the stomach legs etc but what about the bum and back,am I facing a lifetime of hiding skin and feeling disgusted and self conscience then the scars of multiple surgerys to partially fix it?

Hell, NO! I feel good, I'm healthy, I can do things I couldn't do before, I look good in clothes and my confidence and self esteem are very high. My butt is gone, my boobs are deflated, and I have batwings on my arms but I don't care. I used to be in pain and unable to do anything, on meds, had big back-boobs, rolls and saddlebags. I was drowning in self-pity and self-loathing. I prefer the saggy-baggy healthier, happier me.

I just didn't expect to still have to wear loose clothes to hide my saggy ass and back boobs! When u pair that with constant hunger having zero energy and tearing my ass every time I have to poop and my hair falling out so bad I'm going to have to wear a hat for the next year and becoming a social recluse cos I can't go out to eat anymore and can't enjoy food anymore loosing my boobs and the frustratingly slow weight loss only 50lbs in 7 months then yes maybe my expectations were too high

I don't have hunger at all if I stay away from simple carbs. I have tons of energy and have since immediately following my surgery a year ago, probably because I'm eating better - lots of Protein and complex carbs. I lost a lot of hair but just went to a shorter hairstyle which I'm keeping short until the new growth catches up (I already have 2 inches of new growth). I found a Protein powder that cured my Constipation. I have never had a problem finding something to eat at any restaurant I go to, except the fast food places that have nothing but garbage. My boobs are pretty much gone but I had a bra fitting at Victoria's Secret and now know my correct size and what type of bra helps my girls look better. For every problem you mention there is a solution.

The key to happiness is always going to come from inside yourself - it's a positive attitude and outlook. Focus on positives, not negatives. It's harder for some people than others but with a conscious effort you can feel better about yourself and what you've accomplished so far. I'm sure there must be SOME improvement to your life since losing 50 pounds. It's still a lot of weight - I can't lift 50 pounds!

Whoa yummymummy !!! I know you're frustrated about the saggy skin, but I had no idea you were having such other problems too ! Congrats on loosing 50 lbs in 7 months ! Great job ! You might want to see your Dr. about the constant hunger and low energy, and ask him/her about the bathroom problem. If you're drinking enough fluids this should'nt be a problem at all. I cant help you on the Hair loss, never had any. As far as eating out, why cant you eat out ? Im on vacation right now, so im eating out more than usual, but just ordering a small version of my meal, eating a little and saving the rest for another meal. Hope this helps, please see your Dr. ASAP ! I wish you well, let us know how you're doing !!!

Heck no!!!! I knew the skin would bother me though, I wanted to look decent naked.. It isn't just about health, I needed to lose weight yes for my health but also for my personal well being my mental health. I hated being fat. I love the new me. I saved pre wls surgery specifically for plastics. It was worth every penny. I love the way I look now and I could care less that I drive a used car now, my hubby and I will get way more miles out of my new body than ANY car. I invested in myself and it was sooooo worth it. I love being naked now. Something I used to dread.

Yikes I should have read all the comments.. Yummy, I too had problems with Hair loss (started taking extra Biotin dissolvable and bought biotin Shampoo and conditioner really has helped) I also had bathroom issues but started taking a capful of Miralax every day and bought a squatty potty.. That solved my issues. As for hunger are you doing a Protein Shake? ! I find if I have one for Breakfast every day it really sustains me. I stick to just Protein and veg for lunch and dinner. I stay away from carbs because they make me feel yucky. Also I drink minimum 60 ounces of Water a day. Loss of hair, bowel issues and hunger all can be results of not enough protein and fluids.. Hope you get better ASAP!

My arms are a tragedy right now and I've had some issues, but I still would not go back. Despite my frustrations (which make me crave carbs/sugar, of course) I feel so much better! My surgery was 100% worth it, and dang it, this journey isn't over yet. :) Just don't ever ask me to wear short sleeves! LOL

are you compliant with your post op diet and exercise? have you spoken with your surgeon or nut about your slow weight loss?

this was a very informative article. http://www.muscleforlife.com/how-to-get-rid-of-loose-skin-after-weight-loss/

When I got WLS - looks was not really a main consideration. I was becoming disabled from the crushing weight I was carrying around. I was developing health problems related to obesity. I could barely climb in and out of the bed of my pickup truck. Ok, you can laugh, but how embarrasing!

So, then I got smaller and started to realize, hey, I do sorta care about looks. For me, I fixated on how old my face looked. People around me told me I was crazy, that I looked younger post weight loss, not older. Then it hit me. I hadn't seen my face without layers of fat since I was 22. When the fat disappeared, turned out I was more like 48...ha... and not too bad for 48, but I wasn't 22.

Then the skin. Well, I found that Shapewear allowed me to disguise it really well. I have posted photos of myself on here without the shapewear becuase I did have a bit of a melted snowman/frumpy look without it - but with shapewear, my extra belly skin became a bit of a hip etc...

I did have plastics on my body (not face!) and it helped. Well, it just means I don't have to wear shapewear anymore.

I strongly recommend that anyone facing these body image issues seek help on them because they will derail your success if you become too focused on them. Here is the absolute truth - we see ourselves differently than others do. I was dating a man before I had plastics. He originally tried to tell me I didn't need it, and that extra skin was something that women my age just had etc. After the plastics - he was like - wow - that was worth doing, but, I will always appreciate the perspective he gave me which i was "ok" even without it. Or, as he said, "You looked like a million bucks, now you look like a billion bucks!" (he was prone to exageration in many matters!).

Anyway, I assure you that others don't see the excess skin as negatively as you do. Learn to disguise it, even embrace it if you can. Plastics or not - at some level we have to come to peace with this artifact of being obese. It is NOT a good reason to regain weight though - trust me on this as someone who used to weigh what 2 grown men should weigh. That was hell, way beyond looks.

Are You Kidding Me ;)

I'd rather have some saggy skin every day of the week, and be slender :)

as opposed to nice firm skin and being heavy as.............

Even with saggy skin I have no regrets at all. At 47 years old I know I will always have that extra skin. I will have to wear clothing to hide it. But I am going to look great when dressed. Some may see this as only 50% of the battle. I see it as 90%. And in my opinion 90% is a win!!!!!

You're spot on about outlook. My arms were batwings even before surgery, but they've gotten a lot worse since losing the weight. I'm lucky that they're my only really bad problem area, but what a problem.. They're wrinkled, saggy, and flappy. I used to hide my arms with cover-ups. And now? I wear a sporty tanktop to the gym. In public. They give me away, and I imagine people notice them and think of how big I must have been. But... I'm proud of them. It's the only way I can outwardly show off my hard work.

I don't want to look as if I've never been big. I've been overweight to morbidly obese since I was 8 years old. I woke up Sunday morning with a normal BMI for the first time in 18+ years. For now, my attitude couldn't be better, and I'm happily flapping it in sleeveless shirts and dresses.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
