What is reasoning for not drinking water with meals?

I don't understand how it could be anymore risky drinking Water with meal than the risk of just over-eating on your own with food only...

Same risk, same outcome. stretching your pouch.

The NP told us that if you drink before eating you run the risk of not being able to eat your meals and obviously eating what little you can at this point is important. Also, if you drink too soon after a meal, then you end up flushing the food you ate and will get hungry sooner, eat more and ultimately fail at losing weight.

From the National Association for Weight Loss Surgery, this is one of the top 10 sabotaging mistakes that weight loss surgery patients make.

"3rd Mistake: Drinking with Meals

Yes, it's hard for some people to avoid drinking with meals, but the tool of not drinking with meals is a critical key to long-term success. If you drink while you eat, your food washes out of your stomach much more quickly, you can eat more, you get hungry sooner, and you are at more risk for snacking. Being too hungry is much more likely to lead to poor food choices and/or overeating."
