Seem to have lost my mojo…

Recommended Posts

Lately losing weight has been such a challenge. I seem to do everything right but yet the weight doesn't seem to want to drop.. I had great success in the initial months dropping 50Plus rapidly and then since jan almost another 20. Some would look at almost a 70lbs loss as a success.. I still see the obese woman when I look in the mirror.

I managed to get myself well into the red zone don’t recommend that. – have had a slight un fill since then – feeling a lot better – but still making stupid food choices. Lately I find myself back where I was a year ago – I’ve been eating a lot lately.. Portion wise they are band safe.. But the frequency is alarming and the choice even more so. I can’t seem to find the energy I had at the start of this journey I’m not done yet. I’m not even half way there. I go home for the first time in 2 years in Sep. I wanted to be in wonderland. At 18lbs away you would think I could make it happen. But lately I’ve just gained. Not much but enough to turn the smile upside down.

I know I’m not the only one that is struggling. Just looking for advise and interested in what others may have done to help restart the journey?

Oh my! I feel your pain! I had my band two years ago on April, 2012. Did great and lost 50 pounds right away. Now I am stuck! Not sure if I should go in for a fill. Sometimes I feel tight enough but just need a jump start. What can we do? Want to lose more weight!!

Remember why you started the Journey. For your health and for you. Your upcoming visit seems to be stressing you.

@@MarieMarie i think you might be right. when i left home i was a very young 20 something 115lb mother of one. as the years have passed and the lbs added i have gone home less and less over the years and not done and seen as many folks as i should have. i have been so hung up on how i look that i didn't get to enjoy my visits as much as i should.

but how does some one get past their own negative self image?

Omg you've just described how I'm feeling right now to perfection. My get up and go got up and scarpered. I too was in the red for about 6 weeks. I tried to get used to it but couldn't had a big aspiration. And the eating commenced. I was close to goal and have gained 14lbs. And even the horror of watching the scales rise nearly daily isn't curbing my one woman eating fest. It'd be easy for me to say " ah your family will love you whatever which I'm 100% sure they will" because that not going to change how you feel about things or ease your anxiety. We all want approval and acceptance from others.

As for poor choices I'm winning on that score. Well into 3000 calories a day again nearly. And can't make myself stop. Just try to focus on the positives and maybe have only one day a week you eat whatever you fancy. I'm trying towards that. Anything I can do in support I will. I'm a way better supporter than I am practitioner right now. X

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
