tigger.nisha 2 Posted August 19, 2014 I just moved in April from Driggs, Idaho I miss it, but I am so looking forward to this winter in southern Utah.. No four foot snow banks to deal with
Kindle 8,667 Posted August 19, 2014 Well, southern Utah certainly has it's own beauty. I love the layered orange and yellow landscape. I actually have chunks of sandstone from down there decorating my bedroom and living room. And yes, I will envy you this winter. For those that aren't familiar, it starts snowing here in October and stops around June. That trail I was on was impassable due to snow just a month ago. P.S. How much Protein do you think is in the Emporium's Huckleberry shakes? . I just moved in April from Driggs, Idaho I miss it, but I am so looking forward to this winter in southern Utah.. tigger.nisha 2 Posted August 19, 2014 I'm not sure but I'm in love with the raspberry shake.. Was up there for the 4th of July and had a shake and went to the parade.. My kiddos miss the spud and the Carmel popcorn no drive ins down this way... It stops snowing in June... I remember snow in the middle of July a few years back.... Cody's mom 247 Posted August 19, 2014 @Kindle I love the "If you are lucky enough to live in the mountains then you are lucky enough". And so happy the other plaque doesn't read "Thou Shall Not Wine". Happy trails to you.........!
Forsythia 882 Posted August 20, 2014 For a second I thought your dog was a bear. I was ready to see a bear in those pictures, I guess. hahahahahahahaha!
Kitt3000 757 Posted August 20, 2014 How fun would it be to visit each others barn and trail ride? Jane- why not start a country girl/ outdoor thread or group? I did start a horse women group at one time, but I think Sharpie and I were the only horse owners at the time. Now we have quite a few. Kindle- apologies for the hijack on the thread.. This summer has been so flipping hot, I don't want to overload my mares with gear and me- I know when they would rather stay in the stall with the fans on, than eat grass, it's HOT! Last winter (fl), I was sidelined and missed most of the best riding weather. I am impatiently waiting for Oct, when it will be bearable. My main concern is dehydrating after the band. Prior to being banded, I could slam 21 oz. in a minute, and would still get muscle cramps from over doing it in the saddle. Maybe I'll just try a camel back so I can sip sip sip? Western rider, a little reining, a little cutting, and lots of trail riding! Learning carriage driving. Every now and then, my friend talks me into riding in an English jumping saddle, but honestly, my weight was a deterrent. Are there any medical professionals here who ride? Kindle 8,667 Posted August 21, 2014 (edited) For a second I thought your dog was a bear. I was ready to see a bear in those pictures, I guess. hahahahahahahaha! Fortunately have only seen 3 bears and that was while on foot, not on my horse. Very scary, actually. We occasionally see deer and elk, but mostly run across moose. I rode within 20 feet of a cow and calf two weekends ago. They sure make the horses pick up their pace! Edited August 21, 2014 by Kindle

If it has to do with horses I'm all in. So where do you live? We definitely have opposite riding seasons. Snow keeps us off the trails from mid November until April. We can a few trails in May, but we can't access the highest trails till July. And I'm not much of an arena gal...too boring. I mostly trail ride, but do a little team penning and sorting for fun. Sometimes the sorting comes in handy when we run into range cattle blocking the trail. Did a competitive trail ride for our local horse rescue group fund raiser last fall and Kindle did pretty decent. I ride an aussie saddle. I'm Probably the only one around here that does, but if you like a comfy, secure ride, you can't beat an aussie. As for drinking, I keep a bottle hanging from my breast collar (no horn on my aussie) and at least another liter in my saddle bag so I'm always drinking on the trail. BTW, you all should post pics of your horses and "backyard"!
