sherry24184 253 Posted August 17, 2014 Hey you losers Am I calculating correctly here on % lost? I started out at 326lbs at start of preop diet, surgery weight was 301 lbs, todays weight is 181lbs. So i took 301 - 181= 120lbs or should I have taken 326-181=145lbs? Regardless.....so i figure I've lost 75% of excess weight since day of surgery and 78% since start of preop diet. To get to "normal" weight I'm using 140lbs but don't anticipate seeing that number.
roundisashape 712 Posted August 17, 2014 I got 78% and 64.5%, but then, math isn't my strongest subject!! Either way, your success is inspiring!
par1959 470 Posted August 17, 2014 Here is how you do it. Subtract your current weight from your start weight. Divide that number by your start weight. 326-181=145. 145/326= .453. Round to 45%. If one was looking at in increase for example you bought a stcock at $40 and its now up to $45. You would work it this way 45-40=5. 5/40=.125 or an increase of 12.5%. Crux if your looking for a loss you divide the difference or the two number by the large number. If you are looking for a gain divide the difference by the smaller number. Works every time.
