Fitness tracker opinions

Hello,

I am looking to get a wristband type tracker but see so many reviews in the fitbit, fuel band, jawbone, and garmin. I wanted to see if you can give me your experience with any of these or any others. Appreciate it...thx.

My husband got me a Nike Fuelband earlier this year and I like it. I do not know how accurate it is but it tells me how many calories I have burned, how many steps I have taken, how much Nike Fuel I have burned and motivates me to up my fuel level every other week or so. It will tell me how many hours in each day I was active for at least 5 minutes of an hour and it will give me Move Reminders (I don't use this feature). It connects with my iphone and on my laptop/ipad.

I think you really can't go wrong with most of them as they are motivators to keep you focused on how much you move each day! Good luck with your decision :)

I have a fitbit and love it. The charge lasts about a week and it seems to be pretty accurate as it tracks the same amt my cell phone does. Easier to have a fitbit than carry phone in pocket all day. I have used the sleep tracking a few times, but usually forget. My sister bought the hot pink, and I bought the lavender one so we swapped bands since my wrist is too fat for the regular size band for now.

I have a FitBit One and wear it on my bra. I also wear it to sleep. Love it. It syncs with MyFitnessPal and my iPhone. I didn't want to wear anything on my wrist.

Love my Fitbit!! I have the Flex. It tells me time, steps, calories burned, flights of stairs and active minutes. Syncs to my phone and each week I get a report on total distance, flights of stairs etc. it also monitors sleep patterns. It was recalled as the strap gave people a rash. I kept mine with no issues. Good luck!

Love love love my fitbit one. I also wear it on my bra. I started tracking before my surgery. Was getting in around 2,000 steps each day. Now, 2 months after my surgery, and down about 35 lbs, I am getting in on ave 22,000 steps each day! Such a motivator. My aria scale syncs with the fitbit app and so I can track my weight loss also and it shows the numbers on the fitbit dashboard. I also track my food via my fitness pal. Wonderful tools to rack my life!

I had and used the FitBit Force for over a year. They're no longer available due to a voluntary recall since some people were getting skin irritation from the rubber wrist band. I personally never had any issues and would highly recommend getting one via eBay or other online stores that still have them available. It was really cool tracking my steps and sleeping patterns. Sadly, I lost my Force a few weeks ago while I was rappelling :D My contact at FitBit was gracious enough to replace it but I received the Flex model instead :( I LOVED the digital screen on the Flex and stopped wearing the Flex the last few weeks. I gave it away to a neighbor that was in need. I'm waiting for the next gen tracker to come out before I splurge for another. I want a device that has a heart rate monitor and other more advanced features built in. Hoping Apple releases an iWatch with all these features in the near future.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
