kpurdy68 25 Posted August 16, 2014 Feeling pretty good. Swelling is still here but I had the hernia fixed as well. Kind of hard to take deep breaths. I'm not hungry at all. Force myself to drink sips of Water. I think I'm heeling well?
JustWatchMe 7,117 Posted August 16, 2014 Welcome to Bandland! The breathing will get easier. Try to walk as much as you can and if the hospital gave you a breathing gadget use it. The first couple of days are uncomfortable, so if you use painkillers, be sure to drink prune juice so you don't get constipated. Good luck and stay connected here! We are all rooting for you! N2DONNAT123 3 Posted August 16, 2014 Hey there comrade... I'm with you -- I am a day 3 post op and I too have experienced the difficulty in deep breathing -- so much so that last night I went to the emergency room fearing something much worse. After a battery of tests (that came out clean) it was determined that the chest was just very sore and I need to do more deep breathing to keep it pliable. I discovered this after being given a strong pain medication how fast the chest pains quickly subsided and deep breathing was easier. I've decided to walk as much as possible to help this situation. Also, the previous post is wise one indeed. A little prune juice goes a long way. Glad I'm not alone here!
bluegudren 156 Posted August 17, 2014 Did they give you the breathing thing to take your deep breaths with you are recovering? I had to use that thing for 2 weeks post op.
kpurdy68 25 Posted August 17, 2014 Yes they gave me one and I'm using it. I can tell I'm starting to feel better just sore. I find the more I'm up and around the better I feel. Thanks all for the support. I'm looking for recipes and ideas to share with my family for all of us eating better
