Vitamins making me hungry

Recommended Posts

Hey guys, tues I will be 3 weeks post op. I've noticed the last few days that my Vitamins are making me so hungry. I take a Multivitamin, Calcium, B complex, sublingual B 12, and omeprazole (for heartburn). I take all of these after drinking my Premier Protein shake. I've noticed I've been overeating bc it makes me ravenous. And then I get so sick from the overeating. Has anyone dealt with this or do you have any suggestions? I could email my nutritionist but honestly I don't have much faith in her skills. Please help!

I don't know about the hunger bit but I was told not to take the multivitamin andc. Alcuin at the same time as the Calcium prohibits the absorption of Iron. Maybe trying spacing everything out a bit more?

Taking everything at once can be irritating to your stomach. The irritation and acid can feel like hunger. You should also split them up because of absorption issues. Omeprazole can interfere with absorption of Vitamins. (B 12 in particular). Omeprazole actually works best on an empty stomach. And like it was said before, Calcium and Iron (In your multi) shouldn't be taken together.

Is it ok to take the vitamins 2 hours apart from each other?

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
